May 1st where will you be? Dish, Cable or DirecTV?

I, too, subscribed to Voom last May. At that time I had a hdtv for a year and a half without any hd. I bought the set specifically for the improved picture quality to watch dvds as compared to my old analog set, NOT to watch hd. So renting a hdtv in order to receive hd content might be a good...

I am going with Cable, what about you.

It is a wonderful theater. I have a 25 year old niece that I took there when she was 3 and she would talk about how she though there was a princess inside the doorway atop of the stairs attached on each side of the theater inside. All kids are entralled by it since it has "character", unlike...

Anyone recording for posterity? In hidef?

Hd programs that I have recorded on my Panasonic dvd recorder look great, nearly hd. I had recorded Silence of the Lambs when it was first on and my recording of Help! looks as good as the one I bought. I have also recorded some Equator, Rave, and DiscoveryHD, along with some from Monsters.

I am going with Cable, what about you.

I am almost going that far, living with 5 ota stations. I am looking forward to watching more dvds and enjoying some visits to a movie theater I went to as a kid which is only 2 miles from me and a nice stretch of the leg in good weather. It was built in the 1930s and is just plain neat...

Anyone recording for posterity? In hidef?

Actually, a couple of months ago when it looked like Voom might end I started recording some Voom stuff for myself, just to remember it, knowing I probably will not see it again.

May 1st where will you be? Dish, Cable or DirecTV?

Fortunately, for me, I decided to leave Voom a week before their announced shutdown. I was going to stick around for another month and that turns out to be all she wrote for everybody. I put up a Channel Master 4228 antenna to get my NBC station that the Voom installer said I would not get and...

Where are all the VOOMERS Going?

I am going with free hd ota only. I started cutting the cord last Monday when I cancelled VaVaVoom and I have not missed it. I was intending on cancelling Voom in a month or so, but that is a moot point now. I am also not counting on the Voom receiver for ota--I'll get my own, an LG 4200A. I...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

An antenna upgrade was part of my problem too. I was approved for an upgrade, but my installer was more interested in talking me into switching to Dish so I could get my locals through them. He would come to upgrade my antenna, but it seemed like his attitude was in order to prove to me it...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

My reason for eventually leaving Voom is more than just money, although that was tied into it. There is the lifestyle aspect, just doing other things than watching. My daughter's comment about not reading anymore struck home. Then reading that thread on AVS forum about ota-only got me...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

Funny, although it would have been funnier had I written it (that's a joke). As long as you can fill your bucket, does it matter if you are taking your water from a pool or the ocean? My tv bucket will be full because a good deal of my viewing is ota tv already. I also have tons of dvds that...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

By equipment, does that mean just the receiver or also the cables, too? Do they take the dish and ota antenna as well? I ordered a Channel Master 4228 last night in order to get my distant NBC station. I was never able to get it with Voom. The last time I tried, the installer tried to talk...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

Wow, that's a lot of miles for New Jersey, or for a non-southern state. I would guess another big difference between us other than mileage, is that I assume that you are a wedgie, whereas I am bent. I bet there are not many here that know what I mean. I may be slow, but I ride in comfort and...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

Actually, I really only seriously considered the idea for a short while now after reading the thread on the AVS forum about hd programming concerning ota only. I realized that there were committed hd people out there who do not pay for tv and I began to believe that the idea had a lot of merit...

    why I cancelled VaVaVoom

I called a few minutes ago and cancelled VaVaVoom and it took no longer than it did to sign up for it. I was not asked why I was cancelling or if I was dissatisfied in any way. I am not unhappy about not having VaVaVoom because right not I am watching a show on the History Channel that I...

Is VOOM really worth the money?

For me, and in my opinion, the basic Voom package is worth it because it costs about what my cable previously cost and gives me the hd channels. I have had an hdtv for 2 /12 years now, but never had hd before I got Voom last May. A couple of months ago when Voom's future seriously looked in...
