I think he meant Square Shooter. Yes, V* will upgrade your antenna. Is this with the older software? If it is...it's the best I have ever read here. If it's the newer software, you need to get re-peaked.

I think you'll be quite happy with V*. I held onto my D* sub for a month after having V* installed. Today I pulled the plug on D* after 8 years.

You have cycled thru the different modes right? 1080i, 720p etc with the red button under the right side panel on the STB? Are you saying it flickers in any of those modes?

I wouldn't get to worked up on the bad install stories. Cautious yes. Do your homework and know what a good installer has on hand equipment wise to do the job properly. A guy/gal in a Yugo with the kids in tow and no ladder in sight does not fill the bill. Don't let the excitment/wanting...

Did you see her pull out any type of device that she put to her eye to check for declination and inclination? How did she determine the location she felt the dish had to be installed at? Where are you located? State wise?

They get paid to come equipped and ready to survey the site, either roof/side of house install the dish, install the OTA antenna, run all cabling, set-up and activate the STB and leave you there standing with the remote in hand with a smile on your face.

Give them (Installs) a call 3 days or so before your scheduled install just to verify that everything is good to go. That should be sufficient. In the meantime get an idea where you want the dish installed if line of site gives you options and def check if the Stealth antenna will work for...

Your signal indicates your box doesn't have the recent update. As for your antenna, if you decide you can't/don't want to adjust it yourself, make sure to tell the CSR your installer refused to do it during the initial install. He was paid to do it then. Bill

Call Voom again and if they can't convince your original installer to do what he is contracted to do, and paid to do, demand another installer thats willing. Or you can go to your nearest RadioShack........ Bill

It sure doesn't help your situation, but it just may be that they are getting a lot of installs going on today. Give your installer a beer as an incentive to stick with it. :) Bill

If the channels show in the guide they are mapped. Your antenna may be the limiting factor, so you may have to fine tune it. Lower right corner of the V* box has a panel door. Open it and press the red button till the top bar on the right side flashes. This equals 1080i. Next one down is...

Good to hear it went well with you. Let me ask you (just for confirmation) which OTA channels you have mapped. I presently have WIVB CBS as 4.1,4.2 & 4.3 and PBS as 17.1, 17.2 and 17.3 and then finally NBC as 2.1. Same line-up for you with FOX 29.1 and 29.2 and no ABC 7.1 showing up? Bill

Be also aware that as a renter you may be required to get a signed letter of consent to install the dish from your Landlord. They may let you sign a 'waiver', but that puts all responsibilty on you, not the installer. Bill
