DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

Quoting still not working, at least in this thread. Of course bars aren’t ready for streaming despite the counter example that I gave.[emoji849] I’m also sure bars won’t be open tomorrow at 4:30 AM in California… 7:30 AM eastern for Arsenal v. Aston Villa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s not the businesses that aren’t ready for streaming… for soccer, there are a couple of high profile English Premier League games are only available on Peacock every week - Arsenal v City the other day was Peacock only. Any bar that’s going to show MLS (a lesser product than EPL) is going to...

I thought the Sinclair/Bally/Diamond issues were somewhat unique… Sinclair overpaid for the old Fox RSNs when Disney was forced to sell. They are now having trouble making loan payments. Is there any reason to believe this is moving beyond Sinclair? NBC/Comcast, AT&T, and Spectrum seem to be...

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

It depends on what you are paying D* vs. what you would pay if you replace D* with YTTV. If you’re currently paying the average $150 a month for D*, have a high speed internet provider, and get ST for free, you could save over $500 a year by switching to YTTV and paying $300 for ST. That’s...

Battery life is not what it used to be. I may need to charge during the day. Most of that is Tapatalk. It’s definitely got issues… can turn the phone into a hand warmer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

YTTV is well known for the variety of it offerings, not. They have only one channel package. Why would they create multiple ST offerings? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

CBS and Fox might be willing to check the sofa cushions for pocket change to add out-of-market streaming rights to their current in-market rights. CBS could definitely use them for Paramount Plus. Fox??? It depends on their plans for streaming. Don’t underestimate the power of women’s soccer...

Apple is spending over $8 billion this year for Apple TV+ content. Getting the NFL for another $ billion or two would probably be a bargain in terms of $/content hour. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We’ll, if they went streaming only… ESPN+ has about 25 million subs. Given it doesn’t include the cable ESPN channels, I’d expect a few more if they were available without a cable subscription. HBO/HBO Max have just under 50 million subs. Given how just HBO is sold through cable cos...

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

The NFL has a big content library that looked to contain some interesting stuff. The big plan was to sell rights to someone to run NFL+. The NFL had $$$ in their eyes. We know how that turned out.

And they all know that if they get the same number of subscribers as DirecTV had, they’d spend 5 times revenue for the privilege.

It’s because satellite TV service can potentially be obtained by anyone that can get sunshine.

Microsoft’s study picked random addresses and then checked ISP’s broadband availability web site to see if broadband was available at the address. They are assuming that the company’s website is up to date and they can get a valid result for a random address. Their method is as bad as the FCC’s.

They don’t have a satellite provider for it either.

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

This is where you are wrong. DirecTVs satellites were made specific for DirecTV’s needs. It was designed to be part of their satellite constellation. I’be not followed Dish’s satellites, but I’d assume the same. Sure, they were built on a more or less standard bus/base model. Sort of like the...

Given that the two satellite networks are incompatible, combining them your require scrapping one and moving people to the other. Seeing as neither company appears to be launching new satellites or developing new receivers, what would be the point of merging? I could see it 10+ years ago, when...

It’s now altaFiber… until recently, Cincinnati Bell. There are introductory offers that are cheaper, but long term customer. I’ve gone to their shop and called in the past and was told if I broke the bundle, it would raise my price. I’ve also tried online. Price goes up. Customer service agents...

I get it and limited basic cable TV through my teleco because the bundled price is cheaper than the slowest stand-alone internet product.

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

I don’t get this. Streaming removes a middle man, the MVPD, from the value chain. That’s one less set of operating costs and profits that aren’t added to the cost of content. That should allow consumers to get more for less.
