    2D to 3D conversion?

It isn't intelligence; it's artificial intelligence.

    2D to 3D conversion?

Not "invent" information, but rather intuit information. It's basically an AI.

    2D to 3D conversion?

The 2D to 3D conversion is actually very good on my Samsung. Not as good as real 3D but much better than Tony's making it sound.

    Why buy a 3d tv?

There was a message posted over the last day from someone expressing loads of regret over having purchased a television that shall not be compatible with this new 3D technology. Now, of course, there is no guarantee that this specific technology will last longer than HD-DVD did, but by the same...

    Check Wal Mart

Indeed, and they are indeed doing what they should be doing -- and that indeed would eventually result in negative impact from the standpoint of both the quality-conscious customer, and the socially-conscious citizen.

    Check Wal Mart

The better Wal-Mart does selling televisions, the more downward pressure, overall, on television quality for everyone. :( More quantity. Lower cost. So the third characteristic - quality - is what suffers. :(

    3d and HD Audio solutions?

Except that what you're reporting sounds like something that was well thought out. You just didn't like the result of that thinking. Heck, I would have liked every device ever made to have supported HDMI 1.4 from the start, and that all the rules that prevent pass-through of this or...

    3d and HD Audio solutions?

I suspect that what is and is not "inexpensive" is subjective. ;)

    3d and HD Audio solutions?

I don't agree that that implies that "few of the Manufacturers have properly thought out how to do High Definition Audio with their products", at least with regard to the televisions and receivers. Perhaps you were referring exclusively to 3D BD players. That wasn't really clear in your...

    Need recomendations on TV

During my research, I found that we could get this year's models for just a few hundred more, or so. They're thinner, and are a little better in some respects. In other words, you're getting something more for the extra money beyond just the fact that they're this year's models. I couldn't...

    Need recomendations on TV

I was in the same situation, with an aging 50" DLP. There was a big difference between how different sets looked at Best Buy, versus what those sets looked like at Paul's TV: At Best Buy, within the brands we were considering (Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and LG) some were clearly better than...

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

No, it actually says nothing about my science background. What it says something about is that I have a broad foundation for what I'm saying, instead of a narrow foundation. And that's the problem. Life isn't just about numbers. Humanity goes beyond numbers.

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

Of course I can read. Just another one of your ridiculous comments. Only by the maniacally inconsiderate or self-centered, but yes, such folks can cast such aspersions on others for such vacuous reasons. They're entitled to do so if they wish. Yes, I know. That's the part of your message...

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

You said something like that earlier. What I pointed out (and you apparently missed) was how that was myopic -- how you failed to consider that reasonable people can buy things not only because it is the best financial decision. What an idiotic question. Is there something wrong with you? I...

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

If you buy insurance without realizing that a company is making profit, then you're pretty stupid. I don't think anyone really falls into that category. However, to say that insurance is "nothing but statistics" is simply not true. Insurance is statistics and psychology. The benefits...

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

It isn't my experience either, and no I'm not saying that. However, the nature of insurance is that it is a service provided for a value. Many things that can go wrong with a DLP can be repaired, and would fall under a warranty. Many things that can go wrong with a LCD or plasma cannot be...

I Finally Pulled The Trigger For An HD TV

I disagree about the blanket, categorical nature of some of the assertions. I do agree that it doesn't make sense to get an extended warranty on a LCD, LED or plasma HDTV, especially these days. Early on, assuming burn-in would have been covered, then there is something to be said for having...

California's proposed ban on large TV's

No, that doesn't make it different. There are many things that the sale of which is regulated, that are not "licensed by the state". As a matter of fact, this new regulation just follows-on from similar regulations already in place regarding refrigerators and air conditioners, neither of which...

California's proposed ban on large TV's

This is a big to-do about nothing. Once the regulations go into effect, the industry will simply be prompted to sell large HDTVs with lower power consumption profiles. It's no different from how things were when California had tougher vehicle emissions standards.
