Cheapest device that runs XBMC and plugs into tv HDMI port?

I'm currently using XBMC on 2 Windows 8 laptops, 1 Ubuntu Netbook, 2 Android tablets, 4 Raspberry Pi's, 1 OUYA, 1 MINIX Neo X7 and 1 CS918S OTT device. The Raspberry Pi is my favorite for best HD video performance and OUYA, CS918S for speed.

    Netflix streaming issues

I can certainly relate with this. Everything was working great until I decided to upgrade our internet to 10Mbps and get a new router. Now we experience buffering more than ever before. I guess the lesson learned is if it's not broke don't fix it. Streaming is definitely the way to go! I...

Question for those using Roku and Plex for a HTPC

Last month we had 6 Mbps DSL and PLEX worked like a charm as well as other internet services. We then "upgraded" to 10 Mbps DSL paying an additional $15 a month and now we experience delays and buffering. Doing a speed test shows that we have 10 Mbps service. I had the DSL service upgrade our...

    Vudu/Ultraviolet

I did exactly the same thing using Vudu. If you are like me, you probably even have DVD's in their shrink wrap. You know, you purchase several cheap DVD's on Black Friday and then never play them, because after the holidays "life" begins again and you never get time. I upgraded several of...

Pilot TV - New Roku Channel

Watched "The Hillbillies of Beverly Hills" last night which later became "The Beverly Hillbillies". The uncut commercial free episode was 31 minutes long, so you can see just how much of our favorite shows get cut due to commercials. Tonight is "Gilligan's Island".

Pilot TV - New Roku Channel

I like the SGTV channel idea. :) Tonight I watched an unseen "Leave it to Beaver" episode that had different actors playing Wally and Ward. The video quality was very good, but the video ratio was off resulting in heads being not shown in certain scenes. I tried adjusting the video formats on...

Pilot TV - New Roku Channel

Ok, it looks like an annual subscription to watch the ROKU channel is only $17.99 ($1.50 per month). This is less than a Satellite Guys pub membership, a tank of gas and even a single pizza delivery. I might just go ahead and subscribe for a year after my 1 week preview is over this weekend...

Pilot TV - New Roku Channel

Blind, I never subscribe to channels also and have kept my Roku account at $0.00 since day one. However, I might just purchase this channel. I watched "Flipper" yesterday and the video quality was excellent. I believe it was HD like when "Flipper" was on VOOM several years ago. Tonight is...

    Hulu Plus New Interface

The HULU Plus interface changed on June 1st on our Roku 2 XS and Roku 3 devices. On the first day it was really slow and I couldn't even fast forward without the Roku resetting. Yesterday, however it was faster and I was able to fast forward. Perhaps they are working out the bugs.

Yesterday (June 1, 2013) Hulu Plus launched a new interface which is a big improvement, but I also noticed that the service is now a lot slower due to all the memory the new interface must be using.
