    You can buy an owned DIRECTV HDPVR from a former employee or ebay. No commitment. That is what I did.

    You could also use the old Phase III or Para Todos dish which is quite a bit smaller and install the SWM3 LNB in it. The LNB does not slide in the arm all the way but it works fine with signal strengths in the 80s.

    TruTv in HD 2011 ?

    Denial is a great thing isn't it? I guess if you can't watch it, you have to say it is sh!t. I watch it a lot on Dish and the PQ is very good both on the "stretched" programs and the 1080i programs. Much better than any SD channel on DIRECTV. I watch it on a 60" Kuro.

    Directv HD Quality Sucks!

    CGI (Avatar) always looks better on an LCD than other HD content. As soon as I read the comparison is on a 22" Sharp LCD with the receiver set at 720p I realized the OPs knowledge of HD. As much as I hate the DIRECTV HDPVRs, they do produce an excellent HD picture on my Pio 60" Kuro.

    Today was DirecTV install day!!

    Absolutely true that software upgrades are done by satellite, but I have read on these forums that if the receiver does not "phone home" after a new install, that the installer does not get full compensation. Not sure if its true or not.
