Dish Network Subscriber Growth Skids 89%

I switched from E* to D* and I couldn't be happier. D* has dual tuner receivers, I have 2 HR21's (and only pay one DVR Fee) both have dual tuners. While their not dual room, I can still record 2 showes at once. I have external hard drives plugged into each of them (didn't have to pay any...

    What's YOUR tipping point?

We will have to agree to disagree, reading the forums over the last couple of days is how I formulated that opinion. I must be one of the lucky ones my cable company transmits my HD locals over the cable system in clear QAM.

    What's YOUR tipping point?

Still doesn't answer my question. Most HD viewers (not all) don't care about HD locals and would rather see national channels like SCIFI or USA or ESPN in HD. It's going to be a long time before cable even comes close to DirecTV or dish.

    What's YOUR tipping point?

I'm curious, just how do you see satellite companies falling behind the cable companies in February 2009?

What's happening with the Sat Launch?

I wan't gloating, this does not make me happy. I was just making the point that you guys sound like your lives are going into a tailspin because of this. Space flight is dangerous and things like this happen. It's not the end of the world is all I'm trying to say. Things will be ok...

What's happening with the Sat Launch?

Great logic there! This thread is amazing, you guys sound like you lost your dogs. Rocket failures while unfortunate do happen, it's the nature of the beast, that is why the sats are insured.

    Dish HD DVR

Just connect your DVD recorder to the AV out on your DVR and record while your watching. I think what griz_fan was saying is that if you have something recorded on your DVR in HD and you have your DVD recorder connected via the AV outs it will be down converted to SD and you'll lose PQ.

I don't even talk to the regular CSR's anymore, I go right to Tech Support. At least they have it a little more together.

    HDMI to Firewire

I have not been able to find one as of yet, I actually think that the interfaces are not compatable. I found a post on Videomaker Forums that somewhat addresses this. http://www.videomaker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2122

    Time to go. Sorry Dish...

That's fine if you can pick up your locals with an OTA, but what if you can't? Not everyone has that option.

Another one of those Dish bill questions..

Do you have your 622 hooked up to a phone line? It all looks normal to me, if you hook your dual tuner 622 up to a phone line the programming access fee will go away.

LiL suddenly on though not ordered

LIL stands for "Local into Local", Satellite companies DirectTV and Dish rebroadcast local channels into local markets to be picked up by your satellite dish. This is where the term comes from.

Did E* Increase Rez/bitrate for CES?

Nope, according to Lyngsat it's on TP22 along with NatGeo HD and HGTV HD. http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/dish61.html

New Dish Promotion for new customers sucks for us oldies

No, people that were receiving HD LIL's, are still getting HD LIL's. Subs are still getting their locals, just not distants.

New Dish Promotion for new customers sucks for us oldies

I'm not following you, Dish was not doing any HD Distants, with the lone exception being CBS-HD.

Deal with NPS to "save" distants on DISH!

I see this post which made me laugh like hell got ignored! It also makes sense, given Greg's interpretation of the injunction.

The local cable company in my area which is Atlantic Broadband has this channel in it's limited HD lineup.

WE DID IT! Distant Networks May Be Saved By Senate!

Yep, where I come from were not into all that book learning and stuff. I based my response on on this thread: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=79979 I've read all the linked articles, and that is what I got out of it, now I admit that my command of the english language isn't...

WE DID IT! Distant Networks May Be Saved By Senate!

Read this thread, it is what I based my response on. http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=79979 I am under the impression that the permanent injunction wasn't issued until after Dish had a settlement in the works.

WE DID IT! Distant Networks May Be Saved By Senate!

Good for you, I seem to remember that Echostar has been trying settle this for years, and finally settled with all but 8 Fox O&O stations. Rupert was the holdout, I hope this comes back to bite him in the butt. Even though I'm not affected by this I will be calling to voice my support for this...
