Signal Loss on a Mandatory Long Cable Run. What Can Be Done?

Nice, I never thought of that. The only thing about that would be the view distraction. There's people already complaining that there are too many Dishes on his side of the lake.

Signal Loss on a Mandatory Long Cable Run. What Can Be Done?

I've had better luck with Dish Pro equipment going farther distances. I've ordered the signal amp and a switch. I'll go from there and see how things are. They really want to have separate boxes. I think even a slight boost in signal level will get rid of the dropouts for the most part.

Signal Loss on a Mandatory Long Cable Run. What Can Be Done?

Awesome, that's exactly what I was looking for. Can they be daisy-chained together to boost the signals?

Signal Loss on a Mandatory Long Cable Run. What Can Be Done?

Hey Guys, I'm hoping one of you can help me out with my issue here. I'm helping a guy out in the Adirondacks install a Dishnet setup for his house. Due to the location of the house, the only place that you can receive the signal is around 600 feet from his house at the lake shore. There's...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

Thanks. I printed your post and I'm gonna show him. I already told him it's gonna be a big headache. Maybe I can convince him to do the headend deal instead.

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

Thanks for the replies. The guy is unsure if he wants to put all the work into it now. We'll see what he decides. BTW, I'm doing a run of 400 feet for my own personal use. What signal booster should I use, or can I possibly get away without one, and just a weak signal?

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

I should have less loss using RG-11 over RG-6 too, correct?

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

Thanks for the replies. What equipment would be involved with a headend system? Where can I purchase this? The only downfall would be the limitation of channels available for the customers. I'm thinking I'll set it up with a few Dish 500 dishes placed throughout, connected to receivers in...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

This right here, looks like an even better setup. It works with Dish Pro, and supports up to 16 receivers: Spaun DMS51602NF DIRECTV / Dish Network 5x16 Satellite Multiswitch (DMS51602NF) | SPAUN [DMS51602NF] multiplexer 5 x 16 5in 16 out multi-switch 51602 dms-51602 nf 51602 nf 516 sms51602 sms...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

Yeah, the distance is what worries me. We could setup a CATV system, but that would limit the number of channels to 125, and run into a lot of cash...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

Would this work with a Dish 500 Legacy system, and RG-11 cable: Pico Macom Rack-Mount 5-Input Satellite Multiswitches TSMS-5/16RK I was thinking I could connect two of those for up to 32 connections. If we left the receivers plugged in and stored, until someone needed one, that would prevent...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

He has a Dish 500 antenna that he'd like to use. Now the DP34 switches can be cascaded 8 deep? I was under the impression that that would cause too much of a signal degradation. The campsite also is fairly spread out. It's .3 miles from the dish to the farthest site. Is there any commercial...

Need help planning Dish Commercial MDU setup. One Dish, 25+ receivers

A friend of mine approached me about helping him to setup Dish Network for his campground. He wants to provide a dish network hookup on at least 25 of the camping sites, with the ability to expand the system if needed. What equipment do I need to buy to make a reliable system, and where can I...

Using a 18x20 Directv dish for DishNetwork

Alright, thanks. Guess I'll look for a cheap dish on ebay or something.

Using a 18x20 Directv dish for DishNetwork

If I switched the LNBF to a LNBF made especially for DISHNetwork, would the dish work?

Using a 18x20 Directv dish for DishNetwork

What is needed to convert a Directv 18" by 20" dish to work with Dishnetwork? I have a spare Directv dish, but want to use it for Dishnetwork at my camp (switched to dish). Can I just attach a DishNetwork LNBF to the dish and point, or is it more complicated?

    Looking to switch from Cable

I'm not worried much about the boxes. I've had a DVR from Time Warner since they first came out with them (before that a standalone Series 1 TiVo that I still use), and honestly they shouldn't have even called them a DVR until maybe last year. The reliability was horrible, but that's been...

    Looking to switch from Cable

:eek:Damn, yeah, one thing I can say about Time Warner cable here is the fact that I never have service interruptions. If that's the case, I'll wait a little longer. Thanks for the information.

    Looking to switch from Cable

I'm looking to possibly switch to Dish, mainly because they offer the most HD programming of any provider I can get. The only thing I'm going to miss by switching is On Demand channels such as HBO on Demand. I'm looking for the cheapest, easiest, and best way to switch. I need 1 HD DVR, and 4...
