    DISH Network Sues the FCC

As wrong as the spelling. Sputnik, Bell Canada, Western Union and Comsat just to name a few that also paid for the launch, launch vehicle and rent for the facilities. ;)

Last 2 were launched in Russia at a substantial cost. Shuttle uses a gifferent pad anyway.

    Echostar 15 launch update

How many E12 spotbeam Tps are restricted to use outside the EA? Conversion of WA is not likely to provide much ConUS for years without a massive upheaval. They need to start with a few local markets at a time. Not sure if DiSH Latino channels are licensed for Puerto Rico? Maybe better placed...

    Echostar 15 launch update

if E12 continues to carry its share of the load there is no need for E15 to carry more than 19 Tps. If E15 has to carry some of what may be normally perceived as E12 ConUS activity, Double power is not so bad and should be an improvement over E3. What programming can be moved or added to E15...

Negotiations for PBS HDs may Sprout something. :)

You are correct, the 110/119 locals still have SD counterparts for the HD locals. They need to start working on that. The Eastern Arc(EA) is noy part of that and it already has the extra SDs removed and it is all MPEG4. So. How many PBS HD markets does DIRECTV have to carry and when?

    DISH Network Sues the FCC

They need to start the conversion to MPEG4 now, one or two markets at a time, doing the locals only. They will never be able to do an enmasse conversion of WA to MPEG4 until many of the local markets have been converted. Greg, as they convert a local market that has HD locals they can remove...

I don't believe those emptu spot Tps will work for all the other spots. Anyway there enough empty ConUS Tps to fill in.

There is only one dogital conversion to talk about. It very much affected satellite. Where do you think ABC HD, CBS HD. NBC HD, FOX HD, CW HD, MY HD, ION HD and PBS HD(to name a few) came from. The point is very few of those channels are broadcasting an SD feed. So why is sattellite still...

Adaptive compression is not what you suggested. They can use that as long as each gets the same chance for an equal slice of the pie. Funny how there were comments about how great the game looked when a big game was on one of the networks. ;)

Different compression for different folks is just another violation of the rules.

    DISH Network Sues the FCC

Kind of makes one wonder why no markets on the WA have been started on the MPEG4 conversion since we are one full year into the digital conversion? They are now providing SD channels for many stations which go not provide SD channels. It is almost like they are asking to be required to carry...

    Echostar 15 launch update

As far as the testing routine will occur, since E3, E6 and E12 are all there it is likely that all Tps are functional and they will likely be able to test all Tps before placing into service. It would take longer as they would have to wait on a "musical" Tps move before testing a group Tps...

    Echostar 15 launch update

E15 will likely be rushed a bit to get on station and the usual 30 day station keeping test will likely be partially conducted while in service.

Commission Seeks Comment on Application by Dish Network for Delivery of Distant's

Prince Georges and Montgomery counties may have been considered to be in both markets rather than having a SV arrangement much the same as there is a county which gets both Wahington and Harrisburg locals from satellite.

Wierd how those stations with "no purpose" keep on going even with funding cuts. Most of them even survived the Digital Transition. ;) Some even done that better than HSN, Univision and Daystar.

E6 was an in-orbit spare at 110. It went to the Canadian slot until Nimiq 5 was online and then it went to 61.5 to hold some Tps until E15 can do that. E1 was at 148. It went to the Mexican slot. E8 went from 110 to the Mexican slot. Sure could use the Mexican bird(rumored to be a masive...

    DISH Network Sues the FCC

If the FCC actually had the more relaxed schedule in place as a result of SHVERA and then Congress comes along with this new accelerated schedule, it seems there should be some grounds for complaint, especially when the time frame of the new schedule does not take into account the lead time for...

Well, it sounds exactly like SD Must Carry. Charlie planned on a few and apparently thought we'll get them to change the law. Well, that failed and the SD thingy slowed down, because E7 and E8 just couldn't hack it. Here we go again, this time with HD most likely not launched in 50% of the...

Thanks. Interesting how power problems have been at 61.5 almost since day 1. E3 could only power 21 of its 32 Tps. Power supply overheating.

So, how much of E12 is fixed on points west of the Rockies? Also, how are the power problems affecting E12 full deployment?
