722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

Really? They haven't pushed L750 to me yet, my box is still at L690.

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

Since I put up the "my guide is working again" post, it has continued to work. My dad's unit has also started working. Maybe this is finally fixed.

    BLACKOUT

I absolutely have to side with Dish in every single one of these disputes. If I get TV OTA, I don't pay a dime, and the station operator gets paid via the number of estimated eyeballs it delivers to advertisers. Cable is easy. A cable providor has very little to do- grab the signals OTA, and...

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

Mine is not connected to either. However, this is an interesting development. Last night, for no good reason I can think of, the guide became lightning fast again. No reboot, no nothing. All last night, it was fast just like I remember. Today, right now, still good. Firmware is still at...

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

Well, an interesting theory. In my case, when the guide is bad, the receiver isn't doing anything other than playing live TV. And while there are a few timers pending (doesn't everyone have timers pending?) and a fair amount of programs recorded, as someone who used to write a fair amount of...

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

Well, if there's a fix in the works, it certainly hasn't arrived. My replacement receiver is now two or three FW updates beyond what it was when I got it, and the issue is still not fixed.

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

I sure wish they'd get this fixed. My old 722K never did this, but my replacement is horrible.

    Slow Guide on 722K

Oh, and to make matters worse, apparently there's some sort of DST bug, because until this morning, my receiver time and guide time disagreed by one hour. The receiver was an hour early, so each time I tried to use the guide, it would ask if I wanted to record the event. Of course, timers...

    Slow Guide on 722K

Well, I've had L690 pushed to me, with no change to the guide behavior. A POR makes the guide work again, but by the next day it's back to being slow. One thing I have noticed is that each "skip" up or down seems to take exactly one second when the guide is in this slowpoke mode. Maybe that's...

    Slow Guide on 722K

What's interesting to me is that the old 722k had the same FW as this new replacement does, and I never had a slow guide problem, ever. This has got to be maddening for the coders, because it's not uniform across all the samples. I sure hope they fix it, though, because this is dang annoying...

    Slow Guide on 722K

Well, This needs to be revisited. My first 722K had a drive that was on its last legs, and apparently, Dish also broke buffered live playback with a bug. My receiver suddenly would only play two minutes of buffered TV and then jump to the live point. Very odd. But the guide always worked...

Has anyone noticed the new 722k DVR menu?

Thanks. What's odd is that the receiver was already running with enhancements off before the "upgrade," and I didn't think to look and check. Oddly, the ads suddenly went away by themselves and have not returned. Enhancements are off now, but I certainly never toggled that setting.

ViP 722K stops responding if TV is on

I never tried the paper trick, but in my case, no amount of fooling with the TV (or remote address) would solve the problem. Dish eventually sent me a UHF remote.

Has anyone noticed the new 722k DVR menu?

Really? How? I do have to say that after not one, but two resets, the box appears to have settled down and is more responsive and normal-feeling. The resets haven't removed the new look, however. <smirk>

Has anyone noticed the new 722k DVR menu?

The reason I say I wish they'd ask us is because perhaps some of us like our box the way it is. Maybe I don't want new "features" like a banner ad at the bottom of my program guide, sucking up useful screen real estate that used to be used to show an additional channel. Particularly when it's...

Has anyone noticed the new 722k DVR menu?

Ugh. I wish they'd ask us if we wanted new software. I came home and discovered my DVR menu looked something like out of Windows/386. WTF? Ugliest, most dated-looking thing I've ever seen. Plus a bunch of new crap I don't care about, and most definitely would rather not look at. Box seems...

722K: Why doesn't the guide start up on the channel I am watching?

Hey, that's a great idea. I have some usability issues that I'd love to throw at them as well- stupid things this receiver does that make no sense at all.

722K: Why doesn't the guide start up on the channel I am watching?

I have one single list that includes all the channels I watch, a subset of the subscribed channels I get. I just turned this thing on, it's tuned to a Los Angeles local (which is in the guide list), and sure as heck, pressing Guide starts at CSPAN. If I navigate to the channel I am tuned to and...

722K: Why doesn't the guide start up on the channel I am watching?

This makes me absolutely crazy. The guide does not always start on the channel being viewed. Let's suppose I turn my 722K on after some random period of time (usually overnight), and it's currently tuned to a local. When I press guide, it does NOT display what's being viewed. It's always off...

    722K intermittent IR remote failure

For me, it doesn't matter if the set is warm, cold, dim or bright, though at some times the remote WILL work, which is why I was so befuddled before. I'll be calling Dish in the next couple of days to get another remote. This sure seems like a stupid design oversight- I would bet that most...

    722K intermittent IR remote failure

Well... it's the display. Right now, it's on, and IR doesn't work at all, but UHF does. Turn it off, and IR works just fine. What's interesting is that IR DOES sometimes work when the display is running, I think it might be related to refresh rate. How interesting. And how unbelievably...

    722K intermittent IR remote failure

Thanks for the ideas. The unit performed correctly last night with no issues. I was not running the HD display, which is another data point. Tonight, I'll try using the display and seeing if that affects the remote operation. The display is a cheapie Olevia 232-S13 32" LCD. It does not do...

    722K intermittent IR remote failure

Hi, guys: New to your place. Came over here because I am also a new E* custo having been with 'ol Dave for 12 years. Dave messed up my billing for the last time last month, and that's why I switched. Anyway, I have a spanking new 722K, which I so far like (though not as much as my DTiVo-...
