    Dish vs. Comcast Early Impressions/Comparisons

Dish to Comcast I'm getting Comcast this Friday 5/27. In addition to the above, I priced the 942 (HD DVR) and getting the Voom channels. The total hardware is close to $1,000. In the past I've bought 510s and an 811 and am getting tired of pumping money into hardware. Maybe you could call...

If you had a choice:Satellite or Cable

I'll be going Comcast as of this Friday May 27. I'm happy with Dish quality both SD and HD, but am sick of doing nothing but pumping money into hardware. To upgrade my current system to a 942 (HD DVR) and Voom will cost about $ 1,000. After going through a lot of other upgrades in the past...

My 811 won't work that way. I must pull the power to unit. Note: Mine worked perfectly until I posted that on this forum. It crashed within 1-2 hours after post.

    Is 811 worth it?

Yes It doesn't improve SD, but if your TV supports 1080i it will look "Real Good". You can review the programming offered on Dish's site and make up your mind If it's worth it. We have OTA connected as well and get local HDTV. I love it! :D

    269 is great..but I lost an OTA!!

joeadt Hi all! Our PBS in Sacramento is ch. 6. When I select one of the 4 channels offered, 6.1 - 6.4 it changes to 53 when I check on my guide. Works OK though. :) I thought I was going off the deep end. Note: When I lived in the area 6 was WFIL.
