When Dish finally does the software update for the 622 so that external hard drives can be used to archive programs, will we be able to use any brand of external hard drive assuming it is USB 2.0 compiant? Will we even be able use Flash/Pen drives if we wanted to archive a single movie? ~Josh

I just discovered that both the HDMI output and Component output are active at the same time on the 622. This was not the case with my HD-Tivo. It is nice because I can feed the Projector and LCD in my Home Theater at the same time. ~Josh

Rexord was correct, the VIP622 can not output 5.1 audio through HDMI. This REALLY suprises me considering how advanced this DVR is. Maybe it will later down the road with a software upgrade. ~Josh

The HDMI on my HD-Tivo supports 5.1. It also does on my Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD Player. So the 622 is incapable of sending 5.1 via HDMI? ~Josh
