Put another one of my homemade EHD on my son's 211. The receiver picked it up, formatted and works like a charm. Centre Zdisc enclosure + 300gb Maxtor EIDE drive. Cost me about $35 bucks 11 months ago.

Just got my family room 211 activated. 3 calls to CSR (finally tech support got it working with a second "hit") Using an external drive setup that I built with a 200gb EIDE drive. So, it is basically a kit. No problems interfacing. The 200gb drive gives me 18.x hours of storage for HD. Enough...

Does anyone have this up and working yet? I am waiting on some comments about how well it is working, bugs (you know there will be some) and overall satisfaction.

My guide has been acting funky since the 511 firmware hit my 622. It messed up a few timers and has been recording old shows as new. I had to do a hard boot and check switch to get it back to normal (well....it appears to be).

Don't miss it at all.

I would sign if I could get it without having to upgrade to UltimateHD. Otherwise, let it rot in hell. MUUUUHHHHAAAHAAA!

I second that. Voom needed to be dropped. It's like public TV, some good programming but not but so popular with the mainstream audiences. Dish needs to make money. They FINALLY admintted that DirecTV was doing the right thing by loading up the "mainstream" popular HD.

That's worth $5 to me tops. But...hey...that me.

My son liked it (he is 15 and big gamer) but he said that he prefers G4 because they have Oliva Munn on Attack of the Show. I don't blame him. She is freakin smokin hot!

I say more premium channels in HD. The new Cinemax HD channels looked INSANE good last night.

So Scott, since Dish abruptly dropped 10 HD channels, what do you think Dish will replace them with?

So, what value does the HD Ultimate bring you for $10 a month? Boom, you just lost 10 channels, but you still get to pay $10 more?

If you leave Dish over the demise of Voom, then that is pretty sad and simple minded.

OK....so what do you think Dish should do? Demand the stations broadcast more pure HD? I know what you should do. Drop Dish and go to DirecTV and see how much more "pure" HD you're going to get. We all want to hear what YOU suggest that needs to be done to make YOU happy.

Good point....but... HDNet does NOT have an SD counterpart MHD does not have a direct SD counterpart I see what you are saying, but will believe it when I see it. Unless you have an official statement from Dish proving your assumptions, then you and I are doing nothing but speculating...
