Well, the repairman got the DVR up and running. It appears to be a software issue with units sent out by fed ex for replacement. USE * Menu to get out of the set-up and manually do it. BUT The SLING adapter now works. So it appears the problem was the receiver afterall.

DISH has switched my account back to my old receiver so it will probably not update anyway now

The EHD is plugged in now but wasn't the first few attempts, then I called them and they activated it and then I think I plugged it in. So I will try it again. I will unplug and reset the DVR then have it start up after unplugging EHD while it is off. Let you know Thanks..

My God they send me a new DVR and it won't download the software to even get started. What the F@@k....

Contacted DISH customer service and they went through the usual reset this reset, reset that and are now sending me a new DVR to see if that fixes the problem. (luckily I have the protection plan). I will keep the group informed. My set-up is sling adapter USB to DVR cabled to Netgear WNDR3700...

Been connecting it directly cable modem at night. It shows obline and I can download movies but still no sling adapter firmware update. ughhh

well that did achieve anything. I got an IP address but could not access the DVR online. Left it that way for 6 hours and still no sling working

I am trying that and I do get an IP address and show connected. I am going to leave it that way while I am out this afternoon and see what happens

I am working with Ray C on the DIRT team. He feels its a download problem and wants me to look at bridging my router to my cable modem.

There has never been a light come on the sling. I did have a reserved address for it in my router but took it off to see if that helped. I will try it again

I can see what is recorded on DVR but can't watch it (need a sling adapter) but I have one, the main problem appears that I cannot get receiver to update firmware for sling. It does see it when connected. Going to see with these new changes if anything happens in a few hours. I have been told...

I now have the box connected by wire to the router (through a switch) The internet appears to be working fine. I can try setting up the box as a default DMZ server and see if anything happens.

I am not using it through the USB port I am using it through the ethernet jack.

I had tried it plugged into the router wired but I could not connect to the dish from that location. DIRT tells me the update comes via the internet. The wireless appears to work allright as I get an IP address and can see my DVR on my phone using remote access. It just does not see the adapter...

currently I have it plugged into a cat5 jack and I just moved the sling to the back USB port. There is nothing else connected to the receiver IRD? currently. No TV or Dish. I was told before it could take a while for the firmware to download
