Just ran the dish vs comcast on live TV via Monday night raw on USA. Ever since I moved and couldn't get dish, I can definitely say I don't miss these disputes. What Dish charges for basic TV I get with comcast plus internet now.

In laws have a lake house with an old Dish Network Dish and LNBF. Would it still be compatible for picking up SD channels on the east coast? What receiver (no DVR) would work best if it is still working?

I'd call Dish directly and tell them no can do then. I doubt they would want to lose a subscriber over that. Especially since your ETF would be $240, vs the revenue they would get from you over two years.
