    Direct tv help

Review on Amazon says that receiver might not work outside of the zip code the card was programed for. I'm not sure how that is possible though. Maybe put your home zip code in the box instead of your actual camping location. Oh and the device is called a LNB for Low Noise Block and if it has a...

    DIRECTV app and streaming

All very legit points, but we have to complain to them enough before they are going to care. The problem here is they really would prefer you use the service natively because they fear the inevitable. We (meaning most of us) will soon stream EVERYTHING and not need to pay them at all. So as more...

    DIRECTV app and streaming

To start with this app is not the greatest and DirecTV doesn't really care to much to here them tell it. Which is why you have come here and not gone to them (the ones you are paying for the service) because you have a better chance of getting help from fellow SatelliteGuys. In full disclosure...

NASA TV not HD but getting better!

Yes, the ROKU is a nice device to have, although I mostly use it for PleX, I am also streaming the 4K NASA UHD feed (at 107w) from the PC to the ROKU 4 using smartdvb. The ROKU 4 supports HEVC h265 2160p@60Hz. As for NASA TV I stream the url directly to the ROKUs in my house from the PleX IPTV...

NASA TV not HD but getting better!

NASA TV is not 4K, NASA UHD is though, but its more of a demo right now. Running 4k videos on a loop. To anyone interested you can see how I receive this from the satellite in this thread. http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/new-nasa-uhd-channel.353046/page-4 post#76

NASA TV not HD but getting better!

Well until now the sides of the screen were cropped off, and now at least we can see the whole 16x9 picture, not stretched, and it fills the screen. Like I said getting better.

NASA TV not HD but getting better!

I know what you mean, I got into FTA for one channel, NASA HD and still to this day that's the only way to receive it in HD. Although the online stream is OK, can't receive that at a dark sky site.

NASA TV not HD but getting better!

DIRECTV still refuses to re-broadcast NASA TV in HD. They continue to capture the feed and down convert it to standard definition. However they other day they started AT LEAST broadcasting NASA in 16x9 (widescreen) so this is a step in the right direction. They will continue for now to require...

    New townhome

Can you not pole mount it or put it on a tripod? Would be no different than having your telescope out. Maybe they just don't want it mounted on the building.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

NASA UHD (the 4K one) is 24/7 but the content is just on a loop right now, looks amazing though. For details on how we are capturing that feed check out the thread "New NASA UHD channel" over in the Free To Air (FTA) Discussion forum if you are interested.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

As a federal agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) receives its funding from the annual federal budget passed by the United States Congress. This is what I mean by we all pay for

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

That really doesn't answer the question of why they are DOWN CONVERTING it to SD? And as you say they don't even re-encocde it to mpeg2 so everyone who subscribes can receive it. Like I have said many times though, this is why I got into the C-Band hobby, ONE channel, NASA-HD. Maybe one day a...

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

Well if you come around these parts you might get to experience all this rumbling lately. SpaceX is testing the heavy rockets now, getting ready to step up the game and take humans to space. Until now they have been re supply missions to the ISS.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

Got to wounder what kind of hard drive system will need to be used with 16 tuners or more. I can imagine multiple hard drives in raid or maybe SSD's would need to be used eventually with 16 HD recordings going. At work we see a lot of the surveillance DVRs with failed hard drives because the...

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

If all the shows I record were not also on-demand I guess I would like more then 5 tuners. If I can ever get out of the city then I would record everything since I will probably have the worse internet connection possible out in the country.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

My HR24 was great but I had horrible range on the RF remote. Now with the HR34 the range is good but the remote sometimes takes a long time to respond. The tech gave me an RC73 also when I asked for an RF remote, which doesn't work with the HR34 in RF mode.

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

Sometimes the Installers make me wonder! When the tech came out to my house to change out my HR24 with the HR34 I opened the equipment closet for him and said there's the receiver, I only have the one receiver! My closet has a 24 port switch and router with 20+ network cables and in-fact the...

Does DirecTV have an answer to Hopper3/HopperGo?

I too think it is ridiculous that we need a gene mini for 4K, I told the guy but I only have the one TV, so you mean I need two boxes for one TV? We have a nice thread going about the new NASA UHD channel we have been testing. You can sure tell 4K when its done properly for sure, even my kids...
