HDMI Splitter - so many choices

Most current powered HDMI splitters should work, but all the TVs connected will probably need to support the same version of 3D. The powered HDMI splitters negotiate with each display and only report the formats supported by all attached displays back to the source. I think with some of the...

The c31 is what they want you to have

Agreed, saved $100 over "list." There has always been some wiggle with dealers or even with CSR roulette.

The c31 is what they want you to have

That scenario has gone through a bit of a shell game, but is not really any different than what it would have been under the old promotion. It would have been: HR34: 99 1st HR24: 99 2nd HR24: 199 3rd HR24: 199 $596 Total. The biggest disadvantage under the current pricing is if you want H25s...

The c31 is what they want you to have

Under current promotion: 1st HR34 or HR24: Free Additional HR24: $199 Up to 3 C31s: Free (HR34 required) H25: $99 Under the current promotion, there is no scenario where an H25 is free if there is a DVR on the account. I would not expect this to change.

    C31 now "public"

I think the change in the model will be that non-DVR receivers will no longer be "free" for new installs. Get an HR34 for $100, up to 3 C31's are free. If you want an HD tuner receiver with legacy MRV it will be $50-$100 up front if the HR34 is your primary receiver. This is all pure conjecture.

    DirecTV Mirroring is Horrible

Actually he didn't say that and the two are not mutually exclusive. I use a combination of both at both my D* home and my E* home both with whole home DVR systems.

    DirecTV Mirroring is Horrible

It's pointless argueing where to draw the line over costs. You're at $40 and only feeding one additional TV wth HDMI. OP wanted modulated which would feed multiple TVs using existing cabling probably already installed by the local cable co. Dish VIPs do this out of the box. Directv's HD...

    DirecTV Mirroring is Horrible

Simple and costly. OP was giving Dish converts the heads up sharing a receiver is significantly more complicated and costly with Direc than with most of Dish's receivers (Hopper was first to drop modulated output). He is correct on everything but the RF remote issue (an easy...

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Sounds like a lot of thought has gone into life without Viacom.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

If D*'s $1 Billion extra claim is right, Viacom is asking for about an extra $4/month from each sub ($1B/20 Million subs). Viacom alone could result in a 5-10% price increase come February. How that really breaks down across channels and packages is anyone's guess. The providers need to...

Directv C31 RVU Receiver for HR34 HMC

It records from the point you are at. It drives me nuts when I'm at that TV. Either wait, or invest in additional DVRs for the secondary TVs.

Newbie Order, how does this sound?

The monthly should be the same for any of the whole home configurations. The only additional cost of the HMC is the up front fee. The management issue is not that big a deal to me. You should be able to access all recordings from each location. Setting which DVR to record to is the biggest...

Newbie Order, how does this sound?

Don't do this. It is annoying as hell, you have to start recording before you know you need it. You can't just randomly hit pause. Phone rings - you have to fumble with the remote. Something distracts you and you miss something - you can't skip back unless you started the recording before...

    I want DirecTV (questions)

Don't fall for the cable co hype that you lose signal anytime it rains. You can have signal loss. but it is rare and the weather has to be VERY bad. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year, and it's usually back within 5-10 minutes. I don't know how reliable your cable is, but I know my comcast neighbors...

    New hardware on the horizon?

Full DVR functionality including trick play of "live" TV. I won't be upgrading anything D* until I can see if it really works. This will be the future, I'd bet that once the RVU boxes are stable/widely available the HR34/C31 combos will be the standard whole home setup for new installs and you...

So, I'm trying to find a loophole...

The complex can't keep him from getting it, but Directv can. I may be way off base here, and someone who actually knows correct me if I'm wrong. Provider A has an exclusive contract with Acme Apts. Direc agrees to the exclusivity. Provider B can't sell into the complex without being fined...

    DirecTV vs Uverse

I've had both. There is no comparison - go Directv, or Dish, or just about anything else. You apparently like the UVerse UI, and while very pretty, I find it cumbersome to use in comparison to Direct or Dish (I have both at different homes). I can't speak specifically for you're area, but in...

can I cancel, switch to wifes name to get promo?

It's only fraud if their is some sort of misrepresentation. If the questions asked or the verbage in the agreement is broad enough to cover the prior install and it is not revealed then it is fraud. If he closes the account, then she sets up a new install, doesn't lie, doesn't misrepresent...
