    After a reboot my guide and text are now just as sharp as my HR24 receivers. But the overall speed of the guide is terrible still.

    Interesting. I was excited seeing as how my Blue Guide was fast and snappy, thought I was going to be in for a real treat when the HDGUI was released. What could cause such wild differences in guide performance on identical hardware?

    Funny thing is, the blue guide on the HR34 was as fast or faster than the HD guide on the other receivers. I will see if a reboot nets me any performance improvements. The original HD guide I forced from CE a couple weeks ago was also sluggish on my HR34.

    I will try a reboot to see if it fixes the fuzzy text issue. Also this guide is much slower than the blue guide, weird since the HD guide is blazing fast on on HR24 I have in another room.

    I don't think so, but that would be a great deal for Directv to hook someone for two years and the only thing they give away is free MLB sports pack for a season.

    I'll have to check that out. But I would rather them max out the quality in 5.1 instead of adding 2 channels into the mix, but that's just me. I did notice a Cinemax movie was in DD EX 6.1 if I recall the other day.

    HR34 only works with Samsung TVs???

    If I got a hard line CSR saying I had to have a Samsung RVU ready TV, I would just lie and say I have 2. :p When the installer comes he won't care that he is just hooking up the receiver normally. Less work for him. Haha.

    What exactly am I looking for in the firmware watcher? If I'm not mistaken I force updated to the current '0x04DB' a few days ago on one of my HR24 receivers.

    Directv contract with Fox networks coming up...AGREEMENT REACHED

    Hopefully the NBA lockout provided some leeway for Directv to get a better deal than other providers got. But we will never know.

    Is it really faster? I have found guides on EVERY cable/satellite box I have ever used laughably clunky and slow.

    That's why I started watching it at 9:25. By 10:30 I only had a few minutes of the episode left, and was able to fast forward through all the commercials. They were jarring, however.

    I also noticed that the picture quality would degrade over time and then get slightly better. Some of the closeup shots of faces showed no detail whatsoever, almost like a watercolor effect. From the BD release, this is definitely not intended, and is on AMC or Directv.

    I noticed the audio sync was slightly off on the original showing. But I notice that with almost everything from AMC HD on my receivers hooked up through HDMI.

    You CAN get NFL Redzone without Sunday Ticket

    Wow. Just called in and they said they couldn't give me Redzone standalone since the season had already started, but they gave me Sunday Ticket w/ Redzone channel free for the season. Still have a year left on my contract but have the Premier package, if that has any impact.
