Did you go through Sat setup in menu? My memory may be failing me, but I do not believe the HR20 automatically detects SWM as the newer receivers do. If the receiver was originally configured to a non SWM lnb, that may be your problem.

Are you sure you have the HR54 set for the correct resolution? It’s not enough that you set the resolution in the menu, you also need to select Audio/Video from the Info banner and select change resolution and format to actually set the correct resolution. You probably already have done this...

With Genie and HR24's, the box you set the recording up on is the harddrive you will record on. It is also the device you manage the recordings from, with the exception of deleting the recording. Same as you have now.

If the LNB's are the same, you can move with no problem. If you have for instance a SWM5 at one location, and a SWM3 in another, you will need to re-run setup at each location, or your receiver could act funny at times.
