At&t's future plan for Satellite service?

25mbps is not going to be enough for the average household to go all streaming and still be able to do other internet activities at the same time without noticing any slowdowns most households have at least 2 or 3 tv's on most of the time so at 8mbs for hd that's already 24mbps without...

At&t's future plan for Satellite service?

nobody is denying that the future is heading towards tv over IP. just that it will be a lot longer than 5 years until that happens. There is still a large portion of the population even in suburban areas that do not have fast enough/reliable connections to replace their entire cable/sat system...

At&t's future plan for Satellite service?

don't take it personal. it's just a portion of the city slickers who live in their own little bubble and think every american has access to the same 100mbps connections they have

NHL not showing up on Scoreguide

it showed up the day after I made this post. better late than never I guess loads up almost instantly for me. it's just convenient being able to check the scores of games and being able to quickly flip to the channel of that game rather than trying to surf through the guide trying to find it...

NHL not showing up on Scoreguide

anyone else not having the NHL show up on their scoreguides? I use it all the time to easily view the scores of games and flip between them quickly. so i find it somewhat annoying that it's not there anymore

    Price Increase coming in February

yes they are all asking for more but sports is the biggest culprit imo and the reason why more people haven't ditched their cable/satellite subscriptions. If we can ever manage to get rid of the local market rsn blackout rules (which i think are illegal and wouldn't hold up in court), i think...

    Price Increase coming in February

surely people aren't so naive that they actually thought the costs would go down after the merger price hikes are going to happen every year because the cost of programming has spiraled out of control thanks mostly to all these mega sports contracts. Eventually the current pay tv model is going...

DIRECTV Announces Third Quarter 2014 Results

The only thing saving tv providers right now is sports. Plus, there are still going to be those who do not have viable internet options for streaming and satellite is the only option to watch cable tv

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

i've been on capped satellite internet before and it sucks but you learn to live with it. Most important thing is to disable any/all automatic updates on all your devices connected to your internet. you never realize how much data you can go through just updating everything until you have to...

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

yea but att is making it sound like people who don't have access to high speed internet, are going to get access due to this meger. That is total bs imo what's going to happen is they are going to bundle LTE and/or satellite internet, both of which most of those people can already get without...

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

meh. i think all this broadband expansion stuff is just att trying to get this merger approved. I highly doubt that this merger is going to improve internet access for people who already don't have access to true broadband internet

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

I'm willing to bet that almost all of those 15 million people will only be able to get LTE, which most can probably already get right now. I highly doubt that they expand their uverse or DSL into new areas

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

AT&T To Buy DIRECTV for $67 Billion

Merging of big companies, especially in the tv/telecom industry always makes me uneasy. This probably won't make much of a difference in the short term but i fear in the long term we will end up with only 1 or 2 tv providers to choose from. and for people like me who do not have access to...

Help ! 80+ yr old ordered DirecTv, installing SD right now - shouldnt be HD free instead?

no actually i don't but i get your point :) money is a tight, so adding an additional $10 a month to my tv bill for something i really don't need isn't exactly a wise thing to do.

Help ! 80+ yr old ordered DirecTv, installing SD right now - shouldnt be HD free instead?

good to know that they will install the dish for free. but still until they force me or they remove the hd fee permanently, i won't be upgrading to hd. not when my tv bill goes up every year anyways due to rate hikes oh you can defintley tell the difference. i watch OTA in hd and the picture...
