Thanks for the HD but its time to go

Every time I visit my Mom (she has E*), I get so frustrated that setting a recording defaults to ALL Episodes. This is moronic and frustrates me to no end on short visits and would drive me crazy if I returned to E* myself. My daughter tries to record a cartoon or 2 while we are there and ends...

    I'm a D* sub

He's a dude that like football. I doubt he will miss the Lifetimes or Hallmark. :) And unless you sub to every movie package I don't think E* has any HD quantity advantage.

Want to Switch To Directv, need help with costs

My daughter got a standard def receiver in her happy meal yesterday. :D

Yep. :up This was also pointed out in the first post.

Want to Switch To Directv, need help with costs

AAA discount saves you $240 minus the cost of AAA for 2 years if not already a member. (still saves you a bunch) I signed up just to get the discount cost me $20 for the first year and $59 for the second. Still an extra $161 in savings for me. Also the second HD receiver is free or second HD...

    connect HD-DVR to PS3

To answer your question more directly. No. The PS3 won't act as a wireless bridge by feeding the wireless nic to the wired nic. If you don't have wired network near your DVR you will need exactly that a "wireless bridge". Other options would be "homeplug" (easiest) or a "MoCA Coax-Ethernet...

Getting new service. Can I use a friend's extra DVR?

My guess is it was owned by you? Makes no sense to do it with a leased receiver, which is the situation the OP is in.

Getting new service. Can I use a friend's extra DVR?

No it belongs to D* (leased).

Thanks but no go. Anybody else know?

    I need "Search Help"

Is there a way to search for 2 words in the guide that don't follow one another? Say I want to search for "Seinfeld" and "soup" to find the episode about the Soup Nazi. Am I overlooking the "&" button on the remote or something as simple? Help appreciated.

    Too much to ask????

Amen. I am sure there is a DISH sub in a E* forum bitching about not having enough sports but would rather bitch than switch.

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

That is actually a great feature I am using a lot now. DISH doesn't have this feature either. I swear the HR is a speedy processor away from blowing away the competition.

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

I really don't understand the Tivo love. The GUI and features hasn't changed in 8 years. It would be like Windows still using the 3.1 interface and charging $12 a month more for it. The HR series is slow but more feature packed. If the D* Tivo comes out just as slow as the current...

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

I would guess you need to look at other higher prioritized scheduled recordings for the same time or bumping up next to the misfires. But if you are getting blank recordings for the length of the event it sounds like a tuner is out in which a complete unplug of receiver and swm power inserter...

    Too much to ask????

Funny, maybe I did mean exiting as I tend to agree with you on the church thing. :) But you are relieved of your duty as Spelling Police due to these spelling mistakes in your novel (happend, wothless, servicable, irrelvent). ;)

    Too much to ask????

No thanks. And my church has a stage band complete with electric guitar and drums (pretty exiting as far as churches go). :up

    Too much to ask????

I hope there's not a test because I skipped the last novel post. If it is any good they will make a movie. :)

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

The "totaly new" threw me as a processor would change nothing for the user software navigation wise or connection wise, just have it run at speed that doesn't create frustration.

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

Do you remember the last D* Tivo and how it was always a year+ behind the regular Tivo with its software features? I would imagine the software that comes on the box will get a few bug fixes early on and then sit on one revision for years on end. The D* box is slow but at least the software...

How do you feel about directv's current HR series?

I chose "view results" as I am not sure any answer equates to increase the processing power of the HR series. With the things that are around the corner as seen in CE and D*'s constant software updates I think the HR series is great, just slow. I don't think they will be able to speed up the...

Directv Protection Plan is a joke.

Not getting the pork Barbeque, is that what joke burns us NC folk? It looks like you have the situation well in hand for someone that didn't know what Dell had to do with anything. :up
  23. D

    Too much to ask????

The typical user doesn't sub to premiums like HBO. I always want more HD but since I don't want Lifetime, Lifetime Movies or Hallmark Channel and love Smithsonian and The 101 I think for the moment D* is a better choice for the "typical" Man. Now the "typical" Woman may have a reason to...

Directv Protection Plan is a joke.

Feel free to disregard DELL and insert Samsung, Toshiba, DISH, GE, HP, Apple, TWC, or any company for that matter. I was trying to dumb it down for you. Your rant was directed at Directv as if they are the irrational one in your current situation. My point is ANY business would take steps to...

Directv Protection Plan is a joke.

I wonder if all obese French men get such cheap service calls. :D Well if you only paid him a couple of beers he obviously wasn't on the clock with D*. So rationally you can't blame D* for wanting to verify the diagnosis. Just like if you call Dell for your dead PC and say my neighbor that...
