    Upgrading the Sub soon :)

That sub is HUGE, and now you have 2? Congrats, I have never heard anything bad about them.

    Home theater revamp

I wish I could have afforded new Velodynes. Fantastic subs, but I'm a huge believer in the 2 sub system, therefore putting Velodyne out of my realm of affordability. The Polls have been a very pleasant compromise.

    Home theater revamp

Sorry this took so long. My mains are MC-1's. The surrounds are MMGW' s. The center is a MMGC. The MC-1's are a huge step up from the surrounds, and worth the extra $200 a pair. Subwoofers are a necessity, as they are a little light in the bass region. As I said before, dollar for dollar, they...

    Home theater revamp

I wish I had the room and the budget for 3.7's. As for loud, well I listen plenty loud, and that has never been a problem. Especially if you ask my wife. The Pioneer Elite SC-72 was my choice because of its 4 ohm capability. I'm still playing with the mcacc sound correction. It's a very...

    Home theater revamp

My home theater has been undergoing a heavy revamp the past few months. Gone are the JBL and Velodyne subwoofers, replaced by a pair of Polk 505 subs that I bought on Amazon for $400 for both. The Onkyo 805 avr which was getting old and tired, is on the scrap heap, replaced by a Pioneer Elite...

    Emotiva UMC-200 Preamp/Processor - Review

This is the pre/pro that's on the top of my list to replace my Onkyo 805, that is crapping out, one circuit board at a time.

Internet-Direct Manufacturer Emotiva to Acquire Bob Carver, LLC

I'm getting ready to upgrade my receiver in my home theater and I'm going to seperates. Emotiva is at the top of my short list. I owned Carver seperates back in my stereo days, and was very pleased with his products. This is a marriage made in heaven for me.

Home Theater Geeks 150: Improving Audio One Speaker at a Time

That was very interesting. Would love to hear it.

    Which one to get?

My personal experience would steer you away from Onkyo. Lots of bang for the buck, but that has come at the expense of durability. I have owned Denon's, and have found them to be practically bulletproof. Great sound too.

    Need Help with Speaker Setup

Very possible that you just need to turn up the subwoofer. Sounds stupid, but I'm betting I'm right. Onkyo warns of that in my owners manual.

    Not a problem jayn_j.

    No audio pass through

I believe that lengthy discussion you had about that was with another member here. I don't have the technical acumen to argue something like that. In this case, I bow to your knowledge on this matter. I learn something new everyday. Thanks.

    No audio pass through

Those receivers probably don't accept HDMI 1.3.

    No audio pass through

Any receiver that accepts HDMI 1.3, will pass decoded audio in LPCM.

    Professional Audio Calibration?

It's refreshing to read such "sound" thinking, quite a change from the idiots that have taken over AVS. For the record - Audyssey has corrected my room very nicely. In the real world, this is a nice compromise.

    Upgraded to 7.1 Surround Speakers

You would better off disconnecting them, rather than putting in the front of the room. That has to be making some interesting sound effects. 20 minutes in the crawl space solves your problem. Sometimes this hobby requires a little work.;)

    Upgraded to 7.1 Surround Speakers

I've found that keeping the front 3 in the same company, and preferably in the same model range, to be the most important. Next would be keeping the the first set of surrounds in the same vein. This is extremely important if you listen to SACD's and DVD-A's. Timbre matching is important. As for...

    Upgraded to 7.1 Surround Speakers

What you said there is true, but I haven't heard a system yet, that didn't benefit from a proper Audessey set up. Keep in mind that Audessey goes a long way to addressing room issues, which is probably the biggest problem for even the best systems set up properly. It won't make crappy equipment...

    Onkyo 606 Problem

My buddy's 606 had a similar problem yesterday. Both of his component video inputs quite producing a picture. I did what you said, and unplugged it for about 15 minutes, and everything came back on. Sorry for your problem, but if I hadn't read your post, my buddy would have been shipping his off...

    Cleaning

Another thing I have done to protect my Sony RPTV (LCD) was to go to Home Depot, Lowes.. and buy some furnace filter screening. This costs about $17 for a sheet big enough to cover all my vents 3 different times. Just cut it to fit the shape of the air vents on the back of the set and tape it...

    Cleaning

Vacuuming wont hurt anything, just be sure to use a brush attachment. Compressed air is a very good alternative also. Nice post Bebop.

    Onkyo 606 Problem

[/B] Onkyo has a great value/price ratio. I own an Onkyo 805. That AVR will be in my set up for a long, long time.
