Lord of the Rings FINALLY given Blu-Ray Release Date

I agree. I enjoyed watching the extended version of the first one. The extended version of Return of the King was a bit painful to sit through IMHO

    PS3 not reading disks! HELP!

I have the same 40GB PS3 and had to send it in for a similar issue. Mine happened within the first year. It stopped playing Blu-ray disc's but would still play DVD's and CD's. I did a backup of the disk before sending it in. I did a restore on the new system I got back. All the accounts...

    Trouble with Blockbuster Online

I noticed over the last month that they won't ship out the next movie for a couple of days after they received it. It was the first time I saw that since I've had the service. Could have been the time of year since this all occurred during the two weeks around Christmas.

    Block Buster vs Netflix

I've had no problems with either service. I liked Netflix website better, but I enjoy the exchange with the local BB too. I've been sticking with BB, and over the past year, had only been skipped over once I can remember with Hancock recently. I got Fred Claus without any issues. Many times I've...

Iron Man - or, how to shake people's confidence in Blu-Ray

Yeah, I don't like it either. Like you, I do really like Cheadle's characters he has portrayed.

Iron Man - or, how to shake people's confidence in Blu-Ray

Well, I put my IronMan disc into my PS3. After about 20 seconds, it came up with a screen which asked if I wanted to do a one time update to the BD-Live for the disc. It said it could take a couple of minutes if you say yes. I believe if I would have said no, I would have gotten immediately to...

Playstation 3 uses five times more power than your fridge...

You can find the source of the electricity usage here. From another article I read about, they were comparing the usage to an 12 cu ft refrigerator. Mine's three times that big.

Hollywood Studios Are Removing Grain For Blu-Ray Movie Reissues

Yeah, it can be over done, but too much filtering could also soften the image too much. I've noticed issues with older titles on DVD's and just took it for granted that the old film image was in bad shape.

    PS3 2.35 firmware

Me neither. Downloads have been fast and responsive. I haven't tried out any BD-Live titles, so I can't saying anything about those. Firmware updates and game demos have been very quick.

    PS3 2.35 firmware

Not necessarily. You're implying that all the game demos will be located on the same movie, BD-live, servers. That's most likely not the case.

I think laziness primarily. Just used to the normal sound output from the TV and are satisfied with that. It's primarily my wife in this position. Most of my kids and I want it over the surround sound system.

I believe I'm in the 26-50 range right now. If not, I'm in the 11-25 range. I know I've purchased between 20-30 BD's so far. I'm just not at home to verify right now.

Disney: Blu-ray Needs Lower Player Prices

This coming from a studio that sells some of the highest price BD's around. While I don't disagree with their point on the players, I just wish they would be a bit more competitive themselves on the media prices.

Apparently so. I was hoping for 7.1 analog outputs, but it appears that nobody is going to make it. I was just hoping not to route my HDMI through my receiver every time. Some in my family only want to turn on the player and the TV and forget the high quality sound.

I have a 6.1 receiver. I use the optical output from the PS3. I have seen some 6.1 content off of some of my Blu-ray discs. I can't remember which ones off hand. My receiver auto detects between DTS and DD, 5.1 and 6.1
