With your Sammy 5054 just be a little careful, especially if new, since plasma prone to some image retention. After watching a movie with "black bars" you should watch some full screen content with no static images for a while. If t.v. is "broken-in" you shouldn't have too many worries.

HD-A2 going to Sony RPTV via HDMI / DVI and have not had any problems.

Do you have it upconverting SD-DVD to 1080i or 720P? I have heard that the player does a much better job of scaling 1080i. That's where mine is set and it does a fantastic job of upconverting. Makes SD-DVD's look close to HD. Of course I agree that HD-DVD's look absolutely amazing!!

I have an older Sony 46" RPTV with DVI. I purchased the A2 (1080i) a month ago (just got the CC price match for $199). HD DVD looks outstanding and the A2 does a superb job of upconverting SD DVD. I believe the A2 or A3 would be a good choice. Other than the A3 being the next generation...

Did you double check to ensure you have 16:9 selected in the A-3 setup. My t.v. also has the ability to change aspect ratio's but only for 480P or less video. I have run many SD DVD's through my A-2 and they all seem to be shown properly. Also, are the DVD's that you're having trouble with...

You may want to check out your t.v. model # under AVS forum and see if there are any other problems with other people out there re: copy protection and/or problems connecting with the A-2.

Agreed. There may be some "handshake" issues in the first release. The firmware upgrade will definitely narrow the issues.

I would think (although I'm no expert by an means) that your t.v. has HDCP. That being said, it does sound like your firmware does need updated. I would go to the Toshiba website (or call) and order the udpate CD. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help!
