Broadcom unveiled at CES a single decoder chip capable of processing HD-DVD and Blu-ray, so at least some CE companies are moving toward a cross-format solution. I don't think either camp will allow it for the near future however. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060104-5896.html
