Do Europeans and Asians think our market is insignificant?

Actually, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm dual format. I just prefer HD-DVD. Of course, half a billion dollars paid to WB by Sony sure goes a long way to helping their bottom line.

Do Europeans and Asians think our market is insignificant?

There may be a 70% drop in disc sales, but WB would know this going in. The real question will be profit - how much will they save by eliminating the Blu Ray line - manufacturing costs, marketing, etc. If they think they can eliminate those costs and maintain or increase their profit margin by...

Do Europeans and Asians think our market is insignificant?

Actually it was forced on us by Sony and the studios they sold a bill of goods to in exchange for exclusive support. Had Sony adopted the approved successor to DVD: HD-DVD, none of this would have happened. Instead, Sony, like always, wants their own proprietary format. You'd think they...

Warner bitten by Bluray problems yet again

No, that IS a Blu Ray problem because they didn't finalize the specs before releasing it.

    Warner tells BD "NO" again

The HD-DVD add on for the 360 is different than the PS3 situation. The HD-DVD add on can only do one thing - play HD-DVD's. The PS3 has a Blu Ray player built in, but it is primarily for playing PS3 games, and plays Blu Ray Discs as a bonus. Toshiba excludes the HD-DVD add on from the...

Since we always get how bad the PS3 is doing...

Toshiba may be losing money on that line, but the company as a whole is making billions because of their semi-conductor business. They can afford to lose money on HD-DVD for years without taking a hit on their bottom line.

Next wave of high-def adopters could help HD DVD

How is the article not accurate? It says there is a $100 price gap between HD-DVD and Blu Ray players. The cheapest Blu Ray player (as you note) is $299. The cheapest HD-DVD player is $199. I've done the math several times and every time I get a $100 price difference. It seems the article...

BluRay has a better chance of survival then HD-DVD

With the price of hard drives dropping so low and capacity increasing, it's cheaper and easier to use an external hard drive as portable storage than multiple Blu Ray discs.

    HMM: 115,000 not 190,000 & 51:49 Blu-ray

Before I start let me say I own both formats. Can one of you Blu Ray supporters explain to me why exactly you want that format to win? The format is not finalized. The only player that seems to work consistantly with new releases is a game machine. The players are outrageously priced...

CES 2007. HD-DVD not looking to well.

No more ridiculous than your opinion that they look identical. I saw two displays at Best Buy - one was an end cap with the Sony player hooked up to a Sony 1080p monitor. It was playing a demo disk with clips from Click and some other movies. The motion on Click looked jerky and blocky. The...

CES 2007. HD-DVD not looking to well.

Okay, I've read your inciteful posts over and over and over again. How about you tell us why you're such a Blu Ray supporter? What do they offer you that makes you want to sing their praises and needle HD DVD supporters, all the time? Just for grins, I'll let you know I chose HD DVD because...
