I was waiting for one to make at claim at the top spot. I was sure it would be BD until Paramount switched last year, so I waited a little longer. Once it appeared to me that BD would maintain their lead, I decided to take the plunge. Also, most of the movies I enjoy had already supported BD.

So it was longer than an 18 month contract? My understanding it that expires at the end of this year or early 09 by default.

Its going to be hard for people to see a difference between a pure HD content and an upconverted DVD content when there is lots of action. Its the still shots, or very low action shots that will show. I've seen some shots, and I had to look at them for a while before I saw the differences.

The report missed a project in Utah called UTOPIA. I'm kind of surprised by that, but its not a state project. It's one where a bunch of individual cities got together to pull it off. Most households can typically get 15Mbps and can get 50Mbps if you want to pay for it. Its rated to do 100Mbps...

I would say hold on to the movies. I don't think HD-DVD rentals will be long term

Well, atleast your BB has a BD selection. When I asked mine, they said the nearest stores are eight to ten miles away. Currently I'm trying out Netflix, but I've also been thinking of using BB on-line too.

You'll also never see the speeds of above 100Mbps until everybody upgrades their networks to Gigabit ethernet. Nearly every router on the market tops out at 100Mbps.

I don't know. I can see dual format players hanging around for a while. Maybe not too big of a market, but there are plenty of people who invested in HD-DVD and would probably prefer not to re-buy all those movies in BD.

Why do people keep bring up the $98 A2/A3. Its not that price anymore. It was a fire sale. List is $299 with street prices down as low as $179.
