Didn't Sony's gaming division lose over 1 billion recently? I guess Sony's way of winning the format war was to lose the most.

I'm all for cheaply priced, good products. What we don't know is if they are maximizing there marginal revenue product. If they are, then why make more and end up making less profit? Somtimes selling more units doesn't make more profit. It depends on the marginal revenue product.

Sure there is, profit. It's probably the most important factor for economics.

Or they are just saying they don't think the picture quality with the PS3 is up to snuff with some of the other players. Seems pretty black and white to me. Most people agree that the way to mass adoption and over taking DVD is through standalones.

You guys are being thread crappers! nonrev, It's obvious you don't like the BD30. What player do you like? What is a better player that people should buy instead of the PS3. I like the Samsung 1400. It started of shakey for some, but has been solid for me. I think it is better than the BD30...

Hmmmmm? I guess I assumed that if it didn't decode internaly it didn't have 5.1.

No they don't.

The Samsung 1400 has 5.1 analog out and decodes. The BD30 has 5.1 analog but doesn't decode.

If you don't care about picture quality. You can shine a turd all you want, but it's still a turd.
