Over America on Blu-Ray kicking butt

Are you seeing the spread regularly more than $5? For new releases, I'm not. P.s. Even when this thread was first posted, Over America on Blu-Ray was just under $10 at my local Costco.

One more doom and gloom -- Blu-ray boom not enough to rescue DVD sales

If you read the article, its more about the dying off of DVD sales then it is about BD sales. This and other reports imply BD sales are doing well for having been out only two years.

High Def Disc unit sales - The Digital Bits

If you look at the numbers coming out, for hidef titles that do exist there is a lot higher percentate than 2% being sold as BD/HD-DVD. Still are much more titles coming out on DVD only, which apparently why the percentage is lower.

    Another nail in BluRay's coffin?

And at the same time Blockbuster plans to expand its Blu-Ray to all its stores. HDTV Magazine Bulletins - Blockbuster(R) Rolls Out Blu-ray Format Across U.S. & Canada Looks like they want to cover all bets.

High Def Disc unit sales - The Digital Bits

Sounds like the April 1 issue rather than the April 6 issue. Makes very little sense that the top 10 are Blu-Ray and yet HD-DVD had a very good week.

High Def Disc unit sales - The Digital Bits

I am guessing the opposite. 80% or more. Not saying they are all buying them, but remember all those free Discs including some that were included with the PS3. Non-PS3 owner's are of course playing BD.

Playstation 3: Not the best Blu-ray player you can buy

I have an A2 so I can compare them. I have seen an A3 at a friends and was equally unimpressed. Yes, I have heard, that some other Toshiba models such as the XA2 are excellent. The are several reviews calling the PS3's upconverting very good. E.g the following cnet report gives both the...

Playstation 3: Not the best Blu-ray player you can buy

Actually its rated good at upconverting. But there are many that are better. Not including the Toshiba A-2 and A-3 which are not as good.

"HDTV Owners Not Getting HD Service, Survey Finds"

If you are paying US $30+ you need to find a new store, or shop at one of the major online sites. After watching a BD people will really be disappointed with D* or E* service picture quality.

Request to keep the War Zone open longer

I say go ahead and close it as announced. The figures for sales would be nice. Particularly if we can get some real numbers (going beyond when HD-DVD sales drop off). Might give us some Idea how Blu-Ray is doing against DVD. Of course at this point its probably 1 % or less of DVD sales.

    Blue-laser Diode Lawsuit

Don't forget, Toshiba could get nailed too. Just when they want to forget HD-DVD.

    Blue-laser Diode Lawsuit

Probably little effect. Assuming they actually violate, or decide to settle as the easier course, it will Probably not be that large an increase in the price of the diode's.

High Def Disc unit sales - The Digital Bits

Note that many of those players "made to specs in 1997" could not play some of the later DVD's, notably those used for home recording (-R, +R,+RW). And of course they had other problems. Those of us who were early adopters probably had to go through several versions.

Official: the talks are on MS talks to Sony about BD drive.

If Microsoft wants to add a Blu-ray drive, they do not need Sony. All they need do is license it from BDA, and then start producing them. If they are talking then they probably are trying to strike a deal for some special considerations.

    HD DVD Still NOT DEAD!!!

Anyone notice that BD advertising has fallen drasticly the last few weeks.

Where do you see such a price difference? Street prices are much lower (for both) but for example MSRP Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 35.99 (Two disc set HD/BD) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 34.99 (Two disc set Sd) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 28.98...
