Thanks, that pro2 model looks great, would be nice to get that but he would probably be pissed if he saw me spending that much on his x-mas, half the time he wont ever take anything off of me. You know, one of those people..

    Home Weather Stations

Going to get my father a home weather station for x-mas. He currently has a outside thermometer and a old plastic rain gauge out by the garage. I was looking at a La Crosse Technology Professional Weather Center --->...

Trouble with new SSD for my C drive.

Sounds like you got a lemon IMHO. You say it only lasted 3 days before it started to go corrupted?

    Ubuntu

Yea, I have been using it for a while now and I like it. I am running a beta version Ubuntu right now. Using the update manager makes things alot simpler and it does keep up with all your software and drivers quite well. My wife is not savvy and she picked up on using it quite quickly...

    Ubuntu

Not sure on that one, I use Chrome in Ubuntu or Chromium. I cant remember if it is normally on or if you have to enable it.

    Ubuntu

Sometimes they get a lil "moody" when you try to update a program outside of using the update manager. I use Ubuntu on my netbook because its much leaner than windows and runs way better on this lil netbook, and seeing as I use it just to surf it is a perfect combo. But if ya check that out...

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

Ill tell you what, this is the first time I have actually looked into any Apple computers and from what I see they make my beloved Dell cpu's look like commodore 64s... Its like they listened to all the problems I have had over the years with my lappy's and figured out how to fix it. One...

Now that is a good idea, just like a deep fryer.. I like it.... That is one of the biggest problems I have had with my laptops, with three kids even tho they aren't allowed to touch it they always find a way to destroy the charger port... Lovely

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

Thats what I was afraid of. Incompatability, I wondered why the G4 17" laps were so cheap. Glad I asked, no shame in askin questions. Assume will make an ass out of u and me...

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

oh my, just now finally took a look at the macs... Went to that powermax.com and took a look. On my desktop I have a Intel I5 2.67Ghz... Which is a 4 core processor that has more than enough power to run just about anything anymore with haste... I know I heard that Mac started using Intel...

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

Thanks to you guys for fillin me in. I use Ubuntu on my netbook right now because windows just ran way too slow for me and I like the simplicity of linux and the fact that it seems to handle low memory situation much better. I had heard that viruses were very uncommon on a Linux based system...

Thanks for the info. Like I said I have never even tinkered with a mac before so I felt kinda stupid askin` questions like that. When it comes to a PC I can hang with the best builder, but a mac just never found me. I really appreciate u taking the time to fill me in. +1

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

I had heard before that viruses are virtually non existant on a mac. Are they really that good? I am just nervous about gettin hold of one and it not be what I want. One question I do have is can you upgrade a mac in the way you can a pc? Like I know a laptop is pretty much only upgradable...

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

We need a new laptop, our little netbook we use in the living room for everyday surfing is starting to get a little rough. Maybe I will find a newer used mac since all we use it for is surfing it might be a good way to get into mac's and get a feel for them. We have had a few laps now and we...

thinking about my next mac... looking at the mac book air

What are the advantages of a Mac these days versus a good PC? I mean I have no experience with Apple products, except the old Apple IIe I used in school.. I always strayed away from them cuz I never knew anyone that used one. The software availabilty seems trivial at best. But I hear...

    Nest Learning Thermostat

Looks like it was stuck to the wall with rolled up scotch tape... Wires are probably all thats holding it up there, How can u do it that bad. Its soooo simple even if they would have just run the screws right into the drywall alone it would have actually been stuck to the wall not just...

I feel a little left out on the Apple train. The one and ONLY Apple computer I have ever used or even see in person was an Apple II back in 1991 or so. Maybe it is time to take a look at one? I guess the fact that I got a Microsoft cert back in the late 90's has always kept me using PCs.
