Well this pretty much confirms what I had feared anyway. I'm not counting on the DVR anytime soon, and the unistaller is on his way this Thursday. VOOM, it was great while it lasted.

Well, VOOM better say something soon.....anything. This is getting ridiculous. So many promises, so many rumors, not one peep of anything out of the company. My faith only runs so deep with VOOM.

It's hardly worthless. Rainbow Media may be worthless on its own as a continuing investment, but VOOM absorbed into a company that can properly use it would have subustantial value.

If it's anything between the two of them, I have to be leaning towards a merger. Besides the satelites and content, it's very possible Dish could be interested in the Uccentric DVR technology as well. They could scoop up that tech without having done any of the R&D work. If the VOOM set top...

Yeah, I'd like to know that as well. I'll be more than happy to wait on details of the merger if the DVR still comes out in the next couple weeks. I know right now...I have one half day of vacation time that is just waiting to be used for a DVR installation.

Like I said....I really hope to hear something soon....because this "rumor" is causing me to check this forum like every 20 minutes for new info now.

Well there has to be a reson for the absolutely sudden stop of information flowing from VOOM headquarters. Either they are being very very quiet before the spin-off, or they are talking about a merger. They have too many customers on the cusp of leaving them right now to remain this quiet...

Well whether it be DirecTV or Dish Network it can only lead to more content being available in one place which is a good thing no matter how you slice it. As long as VOOM subscribers get grandfathered in to either Dish or DirecTV I have no complaints. I'd love to get signed up with either...

Well it definitely would explain the quietness surrounding VOOM in general right now. It would accomplish so much for Dish. It really makes complete sense. I really hope VOOM gets their DVR out and it's somehow compatible though. I'd hate to lose that.

If it's just a matter of using pre-existing cell phone towers why isn't anyone using it already? I know Dish has a deal with SBC and SBC is tied into Cingular, so you'd think Dish Network would have a very easy inroad to some towers there. This seems like it could be THE answer for HD LIL.

It could be very promising. I'd imagine the costs of setting up the necessary amount of towers would probably be comparable to launching and maintaining a satellite system that needs to be replaced every so often. Hmm....how many DMA's are there again?
