It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Well you do know the ability of CSR's to mess up the facts. It seems from this thread that a lot of people are being able to sign up today also, and I was told I had to call back on the 1st to get the promos. Or maybe that's why their paying $250 for the DVR. I wish E* would just post the...

    Sears made it's choice

Well Sears has decided who to market with the demise of Voom. I was in there this weekend and they're shoving E* down your throat as the HD provider. They got that lovely demo loop running that comes off of Rainbow 1 and bears no resemblence to their actual HD quality.

    Voom 21 programming ends at......

I doubt that. I do find it interesting tho' with the shutdown going on why a certain group of channels still show guide data while other channels guide data ends appropriately. Maybe something is going on that no one is talking about.

Not that is means anything, but has anyone noticed?

Zap2it guide data for the HD Cinema channels (101-121) ends early AM on May 5th (which makes since given the shutdown), but quide data for HDNews and the specialty channels (122-130) continues at least through the end of available data on May 3rd.

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

Always a possibilty, but I really doubt they'll be updating code. I'm sure in the long run it's possible, but it would require a major code rewrite and I don't see them laying out the money to engineers to rewite the code. Also if they were planning on doing that, they would have had to...

    From this mornings SKY Report....

If I've got my numbers right, any cable company can easily get more than the required bandwidth for these 21 channels just by migrating some (or all) of their analog channels to digital.

    From this mornings SKY Report....

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the upcoming D* satellites strictly to provide LIL HD. LIL I don't need as much as I want more HD overall.

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

Even those on a pay by check status could be sent a bill and turned over to collection if they don't pay. Anyone got info and how to power the OTA antenna if Voom takes the boxes?

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

Assuming Voom wants the stb's back - What's the best way to power the OTA antenna Assuming Voom wants the stb's back, I can't see them expending the cost to have installers come out and collect them. I think the most likely scenario (if they actually want them back) would be to send out...

New 8-K Report, Voom shuts down April 30.

It was noted in another article (unfortunately I can't find the link now) that Dolan's main goal was HDTV and he wanted it delivered whether via satellite or cable (hence his agreement to the bid for Adelphia). Since they currently plan to continue to produce/market their 21 originals as a...

FaxUpdate April 1, 2005: VOOM Shutdown Could Be Announced As Early As Today

I wondering if he doesn't want to outlay the cash to move everyone to Rainbow2 until he makes sure he can save the company.

Could this be the new voom domain? (unlikely but not sure)

Potential New Voom Website? With the status change of Voom's current website, I got curious. Knowing that the past proposed new Voom spinoff company was calling itself Voom LLC, I decided to check out VOOMLLC.COM. Here's what I found. A new site apparently just registered yesterday (03/01)...

    The End of VOOM?

I don't see why the satellite would need different hardware. It's just transmitting a signal. The encoding would be done by the uplink station and the decoding by the stb. And isn't channel 700 where Voom is testing the MPEG 4?
