Voom's free switchover offer to Dish far from free...

More reasons to avoid Dish. Before I got Voom, I had been a Dish customer since Dec 1996. They are about the sleaziest company I've ever dealt with. Even with the Voom exclusives, I don't think that their HD package is worth $15 a month...especially since it's missing the key HD channels...

new voom message on the screen now

I was getting excited about the ability to continue to receive Voom programming...but...as a former Dish subscriber for 8 years...I'm slowly getting over that excitement and leaning towards Cox Cable. Dish wants a 2 year comittment for the priveledge of leasing their standard 811 HD receiver...

    VOOM Shutdown Update

I wish someone would spill it on this Voom "news". I have resisted re-signing with Dish. This shutdown isn't being handled the best. I am shocked that Voom hasn't made some sort of agreement to allow Dish to piggy back off of Rainbow 1 until the sale of the bird is complete. And Dish could...

    Speculation going on concerning Voom21

I believe that they said no more HD until MPEG4...which would be fall or later. I would be happy if they added UniversalHD, CinemaxHD, TMCHD, and StarzHD.

    Work Continues On Voom Satellites

Let's be real about this. The only advantage that VOOM has right now is the HEADSTART it has over DBS and CABLE. Cable is closing the gap, with many cable companies offering more HD programming than Dish or DirecTv. If VOOM is waiting for the MPEG4 technology, it will be directly competing...

    current dishnetwork and directv offers

Dish offered me a free 811 with no contract to return. No programming concessions except for HD package at $5 per month for 6 months.

I got it too....I don't think the calvary is going to rush in and save us.

I've just received this email from Voom...

Everyone wants the Voom21....what about TMC-HD, Cinemax-HD, and Starz-HD.....I really want those and don't understand why Dish and DirecTv don't have them.

    Charlie Chat and Voom 21

I've been contemplating my move and decided on my local cable company. Pricing is actually less than DISH with more channels...unfortunately the picture quality won't be as good. On the up side....no equipment investment and no contract.

    Return of Equipment

If they want the receivers back, they are going to have to put my house back in the condition it was before...wiring and the Dish Network dish where they put their dish.

What happens Apr 18--autopsy, funeral, or burial?

I think HDNEWS, Rave, and Rush and Possibly Soundstage could be marketed...as for the rest...2 rotating movies do not a network make. To me, the bigger loss with Voom is Cinemax, Starz, TMC HD.

    Another Move????

I think 2 announced shut downs have done Voom irreparable damage. If Voom is saved, I'm sure Sears would bolt and how many new customers would have the confidence in Voom to sign up. I'd say it's over.

    Cablevision agrees to end Voom

OK, now that both VOOM.COM and VOOMLLC.COM are showing the shutdown message...what do these people that posted that Voom would continue with their inside information think now? If there is a plan to continue the service, someone needs to let it out...otherwise, I've got to make a decision on...

Anything is possible but in all fairness...

Even the VOOM LLC website has the shutdown message. If there is a big plan, as many of the posters here have said, somebody needs to spill the beans.

    Cablevision agrees to end Voom

If the meeting was just tonight...I don't see how they could have notified anyone including installers, employees, etc. I wish it looked better, but I will withhold judgment until we hear from Voom. I do find it odd that Newsday is the only carrying this story so far.
