    Considering VOOM

just to mention it-if PBS HD ever made it up on any satellite service everyone would qualify for it, because PBS owns a part of every station. that is why there can be multiple PBS stations in one DMA, and anyone can get the PBS SD feed on Dish Network right now.

    Considering VOOM

they said that they will "double" or "tripple" their HD line-up by year end. they either have between 7-9 HD channels now, depending on how you look at it. 7 times two = 14, 7 times three = 21, 9 times two = 18. seems to be right within my forcasted figures? this is exactly what DirecTV stated...

    Considering VOOM

I would say get Voom but hold onto DirecTV if that is what you are saying you already have. DirecTV will have 15-20 HD channels by year end, including INHD 1 & 2, which are to of the best HD channels available and are not found on Voom. they also have the HDNETS, which really don't have much of...

What to go with? Voom or DirecTV

you have posted your comments in the Voom forum, you will see more pro-voom people here than pro DirecTV. just to mention it, DirecTV will have 15-20 HD channels by year end, and they will start adding in locals in HD by satellite over the next few years with another round of satellites. This...

    Inconsistency With this forum

If Voom doesn't think the info is correct, then they should correct it. Why just sit there and make us guess? INHD tells me that they are in talks with DirecTV and Voom about carrige of their channels. they had no comment on Dish Network.

DVI Does not work on Toshiba 57H83

sounds like you have an HDCP problem. your TV is not HDCP complient, in other words the model is too old. The DVI output will only send video to an HDCP enabled TV or projector. check and let us know, if the TV is or isn't HDCP.

    So long to Voom....for now!!

I for one would like to see HDNET up on Voom, it would just complete the package that much more, and make me reconsider Voom again, esp. if they got INHD 1 & 2.

Problem - Picture too big for screen

they do that on any Dis HD feed. HD Dis cuts off the top and bottem of Voom's commercials.

A definitive answer- 720p vs 1080i ? (and other questions)

    1. there is no answer. it depends on your TV and how you like to see TV material 2. you need to tell your receiver where you are located, put in Zip code. 3. no, optical is better for longer runs and coax for shorter. but there is really no hearable difference

Problem - Picture too big for screen

sounds like the TV is zooming the feed, not the receiver.

    So long to Voom....for now!!

"That being said though I was able to get a Dish 811 receiver at a good price so I will be switching back over to Dish. Dish was good enough to give me a free month so I could do a side by side comparison."- wow that is too bad for you. you just fell into the Dish promo trap. now you are locked...

    DVI Switcher question ?

"Monster DVI-M500 cable"- I see you threw your money in the trash. NEVER buy a Monster Cable. ever. exact same spec cables can be had online for 70% less. Monster is the single biggest rip-off in the industry right now. I will put up my DVI switcher, the best one I have ever seen, later on Today.

Yes, my most recent poll over al dbstalk.com says that most people expect all analog broadcast to stop in 2011 or past. the 85% rule is the problem, we will be lucky if we see it by 2010 at the pace it is happening.

INHD is in many ways much better than the HDNETS for the vararity of programming it offers, and both channels have something different and neither only shows movies. INHD's feed can be purchased by any satellite company that steps forward to make a deal, they are not just for cable only.
