We Really Had It Great With Voom!!

True, but then there are people who live in areas where ALL buried cables belong to a Baby Bell, a massive cable company, (Time Warner for me...) or the power company. I won't see FiOS for years. Why? Because it would cost Verizon tens of billions to lay their own lines to compete head on...

    Last VOOM Statement

Got mine yesterday... Exactly. I was paid through April 27th. My bill was a proration for the last three days they were on-air. I owe it fair and square, and it was the best damn programming I've ever seen.

    Attention VOOMers switching to cable!

Keep the new stuff, and tell us about it. That way, if it works better, I have a new reason to contact Time Warner to raise holy hell that my 8300 blows applechunks and that I should receive a free month's bill... :D

    Attention VOOMers switching to cable!

Ha! So true... The 8300 pimps an HDMI port. I could not successfully connect my miniDV Sony camcorder to its firewire port. *grumbles*. Also I hear that when using HDMI, it DISABLES or SEVERELY DISRUPTS (still grumbling...) the other digital audio outputs. Seriously... How many people are using...

DirecTV Offers Rebate to Voom Customers

Damn, you get more HD than I do... TWC in my area = 9 HD channels WITHOUT having to pay an obscene amount extra for their HD pack. (I am however counting showtime and HBO's HD channels.) Also, TWC in our area DOES NOT carry our local ABC which does indeed broadcast HD.

DirecTV Offers Rebate to Voom Customers

Dude, where do you live? Hmmm... I was on TW in North Carolina until Feb. of this year, and my cable bill, for television ONLY was $90+ dollars, and I DID NOT subscribe to their $8.95 HD pack, or anything premium except HBO and Showtime.

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

...A cheap equipment rental plan from the get go would have picked up some more subscribers. That's the ONLY reason I didn't sign up sooner. I didn't want to shell $1000 dollars or more to fulfill my three monitors.

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

Go with a front projector! True, true... There are LCD front projectors (decent ones!) selling for 3k and under now. But how many consumers are aware of that? Even someone in the market for a new HD set, willing to spend 2-3k wouldn't normally consider this option.

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

Good point... Even if a class-action lawsuit *were* possible, the ONLY solution for most voom subscribers would be a cash payoff, as cablevision has nothing else to offer such a geographically diverse crowd. If one were to study recent class-action suits, one would find that settlement usually...

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

The way the contract reads, IMO is that you own the dish and OTA antennae anyway. It's part of your installation price. In regards to the stbs, well... Some people *do* own them, so they can do as they damn well please with their own property. For those of us who rent the boxes, voom will have...

    Cablevision agrees to end Voom

Thank you for clarifying... Quite the good point. I do understand that the analog inputs are tougher for Hollywood and the MPAA to control, but they are already widely available and capable, is my point. Heck, one of my voom boxes is strapped up via component!
