Backup issue is moot. Should be capacity to hold as much HD as available in near term. Capacity is not the the gating issue now (though close), it's carriage contracts.

I wish there was, seems like a no brainer, but already captured for this thread. Receiver never goes off unless unplugged. In standby it can receive updates. Don't know if updates can be received in non-standby mode, but I assume yes.

Factory reset instructions on the first page of this thread (good stuff there), follow by a front panel reset (hold on off button for about 10 seconds) after the factory reset is complete. No need to call in.
