    What Happened to Everybody?

I've not hooked up my FTA stuff in probably 5-7 years. I've still got a 6 foot dish on a mount, and a 39" KU dish. I remember it was really fun then fiber came along. My old actuator died years ago, and I gave the 8 foot dish away. Maybe this summer if I get bored I'll hook up something for old...

Which new receiver with specific features?

Olds, Not sure how to get a PM to you. I have a Micro still in original box if you want it? I think I got it for my brother when I bought mine and he only used it a few times. I have no use for it. Shoot me a name and address and consider it your early Christmas present lol

What Do You Think The Future Of FTA Will Be?

Haven't had my setup on in probably 3 years but I know back in the day I spent plenty lol. Got a 6 foot fixed and a 8 foot I got from Sadoun when they were in Columbus Ohio. The parts kept getting harder to find...decent ones anyway. Nobody seemed to keep much in stock. Still have a Micro Hd...

    New to hobby have questions

Jholt I have a Fortec 6 footer sitting here in the yard not hooked up. Might need some spray to spruce it up. It's similar to the big one in my av. It's a fixed dish but could be motorized at some point. I'm east of Cincinnati. If you're interested in making the trip south let me know its yours

    Glorystar vs SatelliteAV dealer

Bob, I agree so much of the stuff is now on my Roku I hardly ever mess with my FTA anymore. Guess like myself everyone like the plug in play no fuss method today. Almost anyone can hook up a Roku themselves.

    True South C Band Satellite

Conway, measurements are great but don't always produce real world results lol. I figured out in 2008 when I set my 8 footer up to adjust focal point until I got a signal on a strong transponder. I then went for something weaker and tweaked that one. I can adjust the elevation nut on mine 1/2 a...

    4K FTA HD Receivers?

    DXing AM

Too much noise on the AM band for me to bother Dx'ing like I used to in the 70's. I've still got an old Hallicrafters S120 in the garage that was good for Dx'ing back then. WBAP is still an easy catch here and CKLW but, I never had much luck getting anything west of Iowa. On a related note when...

Say good bye (Or maybe HELLO) to EBRU

I'll just watch it on Roku I guess. The cost of keeping a channel up and running on satellite has become too expensive for many stations . It's just a matter of economics....reach the most for the least cost...IPTV Fiber etc I suspect come January 1 2015 you'll see more than just EBRU gone.

    4" more actuator gets me....?

I've had a 24" mounted on my 8 foot dish on the west side for going on 5 years without major issues. I get 58W - 139W but once I got to either 58W or 139W I noticed the L-shaped angle bracket that my actuator attaches to was bending. I drilled holes and mounted a 1/4" thick piece of angle iron...

    How Many FTAers are there?

I figure it will be like it always is after Dec 31st we'll lose a few due to the cost of putting a signal up there. Seems like things seem to go away at the years end. I read Iceberg's post and remember all to well all the great stuff even 5-6 years ago. The Equity channels were one of the...

    How Many FTAers are there?

Ice, AMG and Ebru, Weather Nation are on Roku as I'm sure you know. I spend as much time watching the Roku as I did FTA five years ago....a lot of time lol

    How Many FTAers are there?

Please don't ask the question about how many FTA folks spend more time tinkering with their setups, rather than actually watching something FTA lol

    HH Motor In Cold Winter

Yeah Ice we all kind of miss the dish pics in the driveway too. I don't use my setup as much nowadays and if it's below 30 it can wait til spring lol. Remember never stick your tongue on the dish when its freezing either lol

    HH Motor In Cold Winter

I agree with Brian and there's good and bad with both depending upon climate. I found my old SG2100's didn't work for me with USALS and went to the 9120 after a previous SG2100 died. Honestly I think I have two SG2100's in the garage as parts units. I never looked to see what happened to them...
