Opinion on Fortec Star 90cm antenna

Would agree the LNB arm seemed flimsy so before installing I ran a couple 1/4" aluminum rod struts to stabilize. The dish was just installed this past summer at my cabin and I've been back twice. We get some fairly high winds but the signal still locked fine. The "test" will be this spring when...

Contest: Free Fortec Star Dynamic Satellite Receiver

I enjoy PBS World and the wife likes Create. Directv has only one of the PBS locals so access to these is a plus. Also it's a pleasant distraction to watch the "oldies" on RTN and get our minds off the World Ills!

    Line of sight

This spring I setup a motorized system and got decent signal quality across the arc..... for my location in northern AZ the true south satellite has an elevation of 48 deg. G10 is approx 45. There was an oak tree that partially blocked G10 but I got watchable signal..... but as the tree leafed...

    Sg2100 Motor Bracket Flex

satcom1 thanks... I've download the backlash procedure and will check out the motor when we return to the cabin. In the summer we get out of the Phoenix area heat and stay mostly at our cabin (where my fta setup is located). Our youngest son is moving back to AZ from FL after he found out MOM...

    Sg2100 Motor Bracket Flex

Sorry.... I can't resist.... sounds like you have a POLE-TERGEIST! Seriously I've run into a similar situation. My SG2100 is the 2 button variety and I've had problems of tracking the arc. But also have a tree problem that's gotten worst as the oaks leaf out. Temporarily I've just remounted...

    SG2100 reset

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately Anik F2 @ 111.1 deg. is nearly true south for my location. If I understand correctly if the motor were at something other than zero, a reset would cause that position to become the "new" zero. As many know the manuals were written by folks with English as...

Special Free System of the Week Contest Ends 7.7.2008 - Satellite AV

As a kid my early recognition of July 4th fireworks were in southern Ohio. We would set on the levy overlooking the Ohio River and the fireworks were shot over the river. The most spectacular fireworks I've ever gone to was in Crescent City CA. Many of the townfolks would build fires along...

    SG2100 reset

What does a reset do both electrically and mechanically? I've reset a SG2100 a couple times. It's been near zero when I did it. It appeared the motor did something which I assumed was re-established zero. What info is stored in the motor unit and is it reset?

    Dish Azimuth Adjuster Bracket

I split a section of 2.5" PVC pipe and used sheet metal screws to mount it under the bracket to keep from sliding down the pole. Even filed a notch for true south alignment. As a side comment looks like you and I went to the same welding school! Several years ago I bought a 110v Lincoln mig...

Free Receiver of the Week Contest 6.12.2008 - Satellite AV

In 1949 Dad bought our first TV, a 12" round screen Zenith. He put up a 4-bay "lazy X" antenna so we could get Saturday night wrestling out of Cincinnati but our main station was out of Huntington, WV and it was only on in the afternoon. I recall one of the sponcers was Red Top ale. By the...

Free Receiver of the Week Contest Thread- Satellite AV

I live in Happy Jack, AZ sometimes referred as the "Blue Ridge" area. It's about 40 miles south of Winslow. Flagstaff is the only "digital" channel and it's 480i. I have a watchable analog signal most of the time on several Flagstaff translators rebroadcasting the Phoenix network stations.

    Speed Channel?

Thanks...... I think what prompted his question was a reference he had found on a FTA Skyvision site that listed the Speed Channel HD in a FTA section. I'll pass on the replies.

    Speed Channel?

A friend has ask if the Speed Channel is available via FTA. I see it's listed on G15 but doesn't appear to be FTA. I only have Ku and haven't seen it within any of the non scrambled channels. Is it available on any of the c-band FTA channels?

    HDMI Question

My Directv H20 receiver has HDMI & component HD outputs plus S-video and a couple composite analog outputs. Only output it doesn't have is RF (channel 3 or 4). All of the outputs are active. In fact I feed a RF modulator with the S-video output and have channel 4 going to a nearby bedroom TV...

    Hello from Ohio

If he's got the 40 deg model shouldn't the dish bracket be set at 33.6 rather than 23.6 (assuming 23.6 isn't a typo)?

    Hello from Ohio

When I set up my SG2100 one side was marked "Elevation", the other was "Lat" I bet if he set the elevation @ 49, the Lat will be 41 on the other side. I downloaded a more recent manual. It shows to set the dish at 40-DECLINATION ANGLE. For his location that would be 33.6. Of interest I...

    Pansat 2500A setup question(s)

To close the loop and with fingers crossed it appears reorganizing the satellite list using Channelmaster has fixed the problem. I have not unchecked a satellite to "test" whether I can add it back or not. Next step is to save my updated setup using Channelmaster. again thanks for the feedback

    Primestar On Motor help.

I bought the 50mm (1.97") optional shaft for my motor. Using this table http://www.snapfour.com/pdf/Table_38-39.pdf shows 2" schedule 40 pipe has an internal diameter of 2.067". Pansat 2500A setup question(s)

To use an example...... if I have a list of 10 satellites and initially setup 5 and have 5 not programmed. The 5 that are setup will have the check mark and show in my list of available satellites. If I uncheck one, I think it's the right or left Vol button on the remote, but then later go...
