One week til the Eurovision Song Contest

Confirming that the American beam of BVN is indeed airing it at 8PM EDT (20:00 UTC-4), as in the past. I don't know why their website no longer provides a proper schedule for this version of their channel. I thought it used to have its own page. BVN has the better picture quality by far...

One week til the Eurovision Song Contest

The UK (and Ireland also?) participates. I think a lot of English-speaking people use VPNs to stream the BBC. It was carried by Logo, MTV's gay-themed channel, for a few years, but I'm not sure they still do. It was also on Peacock, the NBC/Comcast streaming platform, for a few years, but...

One week til the Eurovision Song Contest

The semifinals are May 7th and 9th, and the final is May 11. It appears that RTPi will be carrying it live at 3PM EDT on the 7th, delayed to 5:30 PM EDT on the 9th, and live at 3PM EDT on the 11th. BVN is carrying it, but I can't find a way to get their website to tell me what timezone the...

    Multiple LNBs

You're not going to be happy when 103 shuts down. I don't know when that's supposed to be, but I imagine it's not too far off since most of what's on it is duplicated on 101.

    Patient Channel 87w

Or maybe too many of their clients haven't switched to the new system.

    Motorized KU band issue

There's no way to see the encoder counts. The receiver sends a command to the motor to store the current position in a numbered memory slot in the motor, and you tell the receiver which slot to use for each satellite.

    PBS on 125

I tweaked my dish the other day and got half a dB higher SNR on the other transponders on 99W, but still can't pick up PBS there at all. I really hope they increase the power.

Finding what Satellite I have the Dish presently

The main PBS transponder IS the strongest transponder that has channels on it. I don't know if there are any data signals or such that are stronger.

Finding what Satellite I have the Dish presently

Is your LNB really a 9750/10550? 9750/10600 is more common. If you have the wrong local oscillator frequency entered, the transponders will show up as the wrong frequency. Based on the channel name scheme and the Nagra light being lit, you're on a Dish or Bell satellite.

Galaxy 19 on AI Turbo S2 meter

I don't even think 11836 vertical is in use, so I'm clueless too! (I had considered that maybe that old LNB decided to quit when it was moved, but that wouldn't explain why it was showing a signal on a transponder that has none...)

    BVN leaving Galaxy 19 @ 97W

It's now 2023. I see no mention of retiring 113W on Eutelsat's website, but I also see no mention of broadcasting on 113w on BVN's website (even though the channel is still there.) Has anyone heard anything lately?

    Newbie needs guidance!

If you really mean 8W, that's going to be really low in the sky (and I don't even know if they have anything beamed to North America). Still, the receiver should've tried to turn the motor east til it hit the limit, not stay on 97W. I don't know where to tell you to look for the USALS settings...

    Eurovision Song Contest week

Currently watching my recording from RTP on my computer while recording BVN as a backup. So nice to have a receiver that does what I want. Now if only the broadcasters would take full advantage of the DVB format and put the original English/French audio on one stream and the local language on...

Anyone having problem with Galaxy 3C?

Are you getting more than two transponders? If not, you're not quite there. There are about 11 of them active with FTA channels.

    Eurovision Song Contest week

It looks like Peacock is going to be streaming it in the U.S. this year, but if you want to do it old-school and watch on satellite, we still have a few European channels left. RTPi on 97W Ku is going to be airing it live Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 3PM EDT. BVN on 113W Ku is going to...

Help with aiming at Galaxy 19

Unless they've changed it, the elevation marker isn't the bolt, it's the edge of the bracket in front of the bolt on Side A. (This differs from some other brands, but it should be in the instructions.)

Help with aiming at Galaxy 19

That's weird, I wouldn't expect ANY quality reading if not pointing at a satellite with the selected transponder active. If you do a blind scan while at that position, do you pick up any transponders? If you do, we might be able to figure out where you're pointed and which way you need to move...

    My New Dish Farm

I was hiking one time and I came across some sort of abandoned installation where some 3/4" (at least) hardline had been chewed. Everything except the copper core. The local radio club used to have porcupines chewing up the wooden walls of their repeater shack. It's now metal-clad.

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Something I've never seen a satisfactory explanation for -- what on Earth do hardware makers gain by diminishing their potential purchaser pool by making their hardware difficult to develop for?

Free to a Good Home - LNBFs, Feed Mount and 12V Coax Switch

Got the monoblock in record time, I don't know why other people's stuff take a week to get here from the west coast. Now I wait for solar conjunction to find a place to put my next dish -- I'm going to try for PBS and Reuters on the same dish, because my motorized dish can no longer get either...

Free to a Good Home - LNBFs, Feed Mount and 12V Coax Switch

I can't find the specs on that monoblock anywhere. Is the separation 4 degrees? If so, I'll take it.

finally, it's Eurovision Song Contest week again

The broadcasters likely to be carrying it on North American Ku-band are BVN, TVRi, and RTPi. BVN is, according to their EPG, carrying all three rounds (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) delayed at 8 PM EDT. I believe TVRi is carrying it live at 3 PM EDT. I haven't tried to check RTPi's...

    BVN leaving Galaxy 19 @ 97W

I wonder if that's why Reuters put up a signal on 127 or 129 or wherever it is. I hope not, I can't see those birds at all.

    Alignment issues

I recently went through a bout of thinking my motor had rotated on the pole, when what had REALLY happened was my GSP90 had rotated on the HH90 shaft! Duh, should've checked that first, but I still don't know how three bolts got loose enough to let that happen. (I'm thinking it had something...
