Another thing is to make sure the receiver is set to an ACTIVE transponder on that bird. If not, you'll never get a quality reading, regardless of whether or not all your other settings are correct. This seems to be the one thing a lot of people overlook when setting up a dish.

No go. I'll just have to stick with the way I have it now, with the front panel tilted toward the ground. I don't really need to see the front panel display, so it's not that big of a deal. At least it works now.

From what I'm hearing, the problem is not really the remote, but the IR sensor in the receiver. Certain plasma TV's jam the signal. Having the receiver point down to the ground solved the problem. How? I have no idea.

Actually got the remote control working by pulling the receiver out and letting it sit on the edge of the TV stand. The front panel is facing down, touching the floor. Looks stupid, but hey it works! I'm quickly finding out that the blind scan on this thing, how can I put this delicately...

It seems fine. The box hasn't crashed or anything like that. I think the blindscanning needs improvement, but that's probably a hardware issue. I feel it misses a lot of feeds. It's an HD receiver that does S2 for $100, so I really can't complain too much.

I have an S10 and am using the "Aug 15th" firmware that really is for the S9, because it has the U.S. birds. I cannot find S10 only firmware anywhere.

This has not been my experience. When I scan a bird using "blind" scan, it misses a bunch of channels. When I use "accurate" scan, all the missing channels scan in. For instance, on G18, when just blind scanning, it only picks up UWTV. If I use accurate scan, all the other channels come in...

When you say "signal strength", are you referring to signal LEVEL or QUALITY? The quality reading is all that matters. I ask because you state that you get a reading of 71% on one receiver, and in the 30's on another. That's certainly not normal to have that big a gap in quality between two...

The AZbox is the only receiver that does 4:2:2.

30 inches minimum. The larger the better. You must take into account times of bad weather. The larger the dish, the less chance of rain fade.

You can get Hulu, on the Roku, without Playon. Hulu has their own "channel" for the Roku.
