    Fun stuff. The wind did a number on a couple of my dishes this spring. The 90 cm was pointed towards the house and the sidecar Ku lnbf on the 9 footer gets a whole lotta nothing now. I parked the 90cm on 103w and I think I’ll put the 1m on 125w when I get home……

    I don’t know about pigeons breeding in there but I do have a plastic cap on the LNBF to keep wasps/hornets/yellow jackets out And in case anyone is wondering I posted a picture of my dish turned all the way East and the cats got on it lol No kitties were microwaved during my FTA tenure :)

    My C band dish is prime focus, Ku dishes are offset focus. I’ve only seen cassegrain on really big commercial earth stations. And Gregorian maybe look at those threads here where a guy is experimenting with reflecting signals between multiple dishes. Pic related is my 8.5 ft C band dish

    Best option to replace/upgrade this actuator?

    I’m not recommending this particular actuator. It uses a reed switch and only 3 magnets on the main gear, so the count really isn’t accurate enough for digital signals. There are also no hard limit switches. I might engineer a way to get more/accurate counts on mine, we’ll see…….

    I have that exact same actuator. Mine cleaned up ok and seems to work. I did have to replace the ball joint at the end where it attaches to the polar mount.

    8 ft dish

    Looks like a C/Ku band setup with a servo to change polarity (H/V). But hopefully someone who actually knows what it is chimes in. I also am using a Titanium LNBF because it the feedhorn/LNB/LNA on my dish was junk and frankly too heavy for the buttonhook.

    I’m guessing a Stab HH 120 and a Geosat 1.2m setup would be pretty tight. I don’t have enough interest in Ku to plunk down that kind of cash. I suppose with a salvaged (free!) 1.2m commercial dish and a home brew polar mount with an actuator would be cool too. I remember seeing a thread here...

    Hello Again. Got my dish going after a long break.

    Welcome back! I got in last year with a 90cm Geosat and a GTMedia receiver. Now I have 5 dishes including a 8.5 footer for C Band. No cable here where I'm at so I started my own cable servce. At least that's what I tell my curious neighbors......
