OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

There is still one analog tp out there? I did not know that. Thanks. I'll check that out. At least C3 will be easy to find. But I am pleased to have found F1. I hooked up the Supra to replace the Maspro to be able to move the dish and change the polarity. I have both C/KU coax comes in and I...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

With the weather and not enough time, I finally checked it out and I got it hooked up right. I am able to move the dish, set the E/W limits. It took a bit, but I found ANIK F1, so I can go from there. I had to reset the polarity a bit, but it seems to work. Now to figure out how to put in all of...

OTHER How to Add FTA to Old C/Ku H2H System?

I did that years ago when analog started going away. I first bought the VC2, then 4DTV (905), and my first Mpeg 2 SD FTA receiver, followed that up with a Pansat 9000, then the Pansat 9500, which I still use. Lots of interesting stuff in digital. You never know what you may see. I just retired...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Thanks for the info. Great! Once I find one bird, I should easily find them all then. This may be easier than I thought. I just need to learn the receiver. The Maspro being a commercial unit with a lot of add-ons, was a bit klonky to use and had a lot of glitches. Often it would jam up and I had...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

This afternoon I clicked on the Supra and the only thing I had to change was to switch the motor wires. I set the limits, so far so good. At least I have made it that far. Ran out of time as I had to go out on a service call 30 miles away (I'm a Locksmith), so the rest will have to wait...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I could have hooked up the GI 550i instead, but the Uniden was easier to get to in the back room. With the Maspro which was different than most satellite receivers at the time, a commercial unit. I had to figure that out. The Maspro motor wires were #1 Red #2 While and I wired the Uniden the...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I got it wired tonight. I will check it all out in the next day or two. I believe you said it did not matter if I switched to pulse wires, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. No connection to a 12v. Motor hook up #1 Red #2 White. No issue there. I also have to figure out how to run the Supra...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Good. Now to get it hooked up and see if I can get the unit going. I plugged in the Uniden Supra and it came on fine and the remote works. It has been sitting for a good 10 years in the backroom along with the GI. Is there a memory battery in the Supra I need to be concerned about? Some...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

An hour or two? I wish! But finding all of the birds across the arc is not going to be easy. I do have a list of the numbers from the old Maspro on where they were, but I am sure the Supra will have a different number of clicks between the birds. Like between 103 and 101, I got 10 numbers...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Thank you. The Reed Switch in the other motor doesn't seem to have the wheel though. This look easier than I thought. So not power other than the power is needed. Good. I am glad I asked. It has been year since I have had to reset the arc too and find all of the birds once again. This will be...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I presume the Green wire to the receiver runs the 7V? the Black would go to Sensor Return? The Sensor connections on the Supra are: Ground, 12+ DC Sensor Power, Sensor Return, and Ground. I did use an extra wire for ground on the Maspro as I have three wires connected, but I guess that is not...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

It quit raining, so I went out and took the cover off the motor and took the photo. Different than I remembered. No red wire connected. Yet there are 5 wires connected to the Maspro, but only 4 on the motor. Two for the motor and a black & blue ones for the sensor.

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I could run a resister to knock the voltage down a bit, but it is a standard optical. Nothing special. At least I never ordered anything special at the time. I would guess the voltage doesn't have to be exact. I know walwarts voltage run higher that the posted voltage and they do fine.

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Thank you! Yes, the connection terminal on the Supra is the same as yours. Is there a memory battery in the Supra I need to be concerned about? I know some receivers used them. I think the Maspro has some capacitor that protects the memory if the power was off. On the Supra, if there is one...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

The Uniden Supra book says the receiver will work on optical, reed switch, or Hall Effect. But the voltage on the back on the Maspro says 7V, yet the Supra says 12v. Is that an issue? The labeling is a bit different on the Supra too. Maspro: Motor wires/ then 7v/Pulse/Shield Uniden: Motor...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Doing some research and looking at photos. I think the motor out at the dish is optical pulse, as it has the wheel. The spare motor I have looks like a Reed Switch type. If that is the case, I am wondering if the Uniden Supra will look with the Optical or do I need to switch the motor to the...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I do remember the actuator out there is a Thomson Saginaw. I buy the best I can find because of our wind on the Northern Oregon Coast. This arm is made to handle up to a 12 foot dish and mine is only 8.5 feet, but heavy, solid fiberglas . I do not believe I specified as certain type of switch...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I could, but it would not be a good idea this weekend as it is raining. I'll have to wait until the weather improves. I know it used to have the wheel, as I replaced it after I added KU, so I would have more counts.

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Thanks for the advice. I see the Uniden does not have the VC2 cage in it, so that is good. Okay, as far as the actuator sensor connections go, the Maspro uses the pulse type, and the connections are labelled +7v, Pulse, Shield.. The Uniden Supra has ground, +12v, Shield, & Shield return. The GI...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

I checked the connections on the back of the Uniden Supra and it looks like the same connections the Maspro has. I have never fired up either receiver, the GI 550i or the Supra, so I have no idea what I am in for. :-). But both worked when they were taken out of service. Which receiver is...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

In digging around today I found my old manual for the Maspro. It says the actuator has to have a pulse type sensor. The potentometer type is not compatible. The hole the receiver is in is pretty dark, but the terminal says 7v Pulse Shield on the back of the Maspro. So what I need to know is...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the switch is an odd one. I took the front plate off to look. It is not easy to get to either. It looks like the switch is a complicated thing attached to a separate circuit board. I figure both of the spare receivers, the Uniden & the GI work okay and I...

OTHER Acuator info-Need Help-Replacing an old Maspro

Back 30 years ago I installed my old Maspro receiver. Well it died. The switch is bad and it will not come on most of the time. and of course no parts are around for it. I knew this may happen in the future. I was in my late 30s at the time and I am now nearing 70. I bought two used satellite...
