Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Results of my 2 degree LNB spacing experiments on the T90; Cut outer scaler ring off of a couple of Geosat linear LNBs and a couple of Circular LNBs, so that the LNBs would be like 46mm wide. The circulars continued to work normally, but the linears became very intermittent. 46mm linears...

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

If you are just starting out I would go; first Fixed dish, then motorized dish, and lastly T90. The cost of all the switches and 8 LNBs for a T90 is a lot. Start out simple.

Eight satellites with one diseqc switch and four tone switches or one tone switch and two diseqc switches. 16 satellites with one SUR420F and four diseqc switches. or one SUR420F, two diseqc switches and eight tone switches. Receiver(s) would need to be a mix of FTA and Subcripted boxes.

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Single LNBs are fine if you only want one receiver. Dual LNBs are required for two or more receivers. I am currectly up to version 3 of my 2 degree T90 spacing project. Belt sander mod works, but does not allow for skew of the LNBs and LNBs are still too wide for more than 3 satellites in...

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Cut a Geosat LNB down to 46mm wide (diameter) and made a clear plexiglass lens, solves the clearance problem of multiple LNB with 2 degree spacing. Remains to be seen what effect this modification of the Geosat has on satellite receiption.

Labgate, you were correct 3 lnbs trimed to 2 inches work fine, but four or five and the lnbs are no longer centered with the beam. rail get too crowded to maintain 2 inch spacing. I have not been able to find more then four satellite in a row that I can tune something on. May try to cut...

That is a very impressive LNB 1.57 inches in diameter. I am trying to keep duals though.

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Right now with the Wave Frontier LNB holders two satellites 2 degrees apart the LNBs are either not centered on the satellite BEAM or angled into the beam. So we will see what happen if we get 6 or 7 satellites in a row. Two linears next to each other are wider that 4 inches at the back side...

Picture of two LNBs, Left one unmodified, Right one cut down on a belt sander to a 2 inch width. Modifed cover in the center.

Can you post pictures of your LNBs showing how they are skewed? Thanks

I don't have any plastic bags on my LNBs. Maybe one of the pictures are not clear. Oh the last picture? That is 2 inch wide masking tape being used to close the horn during sanding. Also another layer of tape to protect the horn cover from getting scratched during the rework. I put sealer...

This is the tool which I have been using. I would not try squeezing the ends of the LNBs because I think they will crack. Also what would you use for a cover if they did squeeze?

    Yes "A13" distorts the main reflector, but instead of leaving it off I added washers as spacers on the two aft bolts. Here are some more LNB's I am modifying;

Very narrow, but I only run dual LNBs.

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Yes, signal is strongest for the center LNB and gets weaker toward the most outboard LNBs. Alignment tolerances are very small. Azimuth is very forgiving. Elevation has like a 1 or 1.5 degree window, and skew is a compromise (+ or -1 degree) to balance the two outboard LNBs. The screw...

2 degree spacing works on Toroidal T90!!!!!! WOW it works!!!! Got three satellites in a row. 119, 121, and 123. Previously thought as impossible on the T90. Thanks Iceburg for making me question the 3 degrees limit. Here are the scan results; 119 = 451 channels 121 = 157 channels...

Used a belt sander, without the plastic LNB cover, only the horn cover is 2.5 inches wide. The side picture shows how much of the horn cover was removed. There is a metal lip for the cover to catch and that is sanded down flush on the sides. Not impressed with the results so far, may have...

Much better luck scanning with Mytheatre and Skystar2; Without any fine tunning of the LNBs 89 = Zero channels (Maybe LOS) 91 = 487 93 = 30 (30% to 45%) Still need to get 3 or 4 satellites in line with a 2 degree spacing to show that this works.

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

Can not get anything on 89 and 93 (Too weak in the 20%) Maybe they needs some tweaking (up or down? can't go left or right) , or I could try a couple of satellites closer to the center of the dish. Later after work.

Yes, Shaved the "Horn" to a width of 2 inches. I am scanning with my Skystar2 2.3 now. &%$# Twinhan does not want to tune, but found a few channel on 89 and 93. Had 91 before the experiment.

2 degree spacing on the T90, as promised. From the end of LNB rail 89, 91, 93, 95, and 97. (ran out of spare LNBs) 95 and 97 are not the correct type LNBs, there are just to show the spacing. Note the LNB holder view from the top!!! There just is not any room for the holders on each...

Wave Frontier Toroidal T-90 Satellite Dish

First attempt at getting 2 degree spacing was to cut down the LNB holders (over a year ago). Simply sanded the sides down about 1/8 inch on both sides, but that did not work (2.5 to 3 degrees at best). Lastest attempt at 2 degree spacing is much more scientific (I measured the spacing this...
