Unfortunately, neither Dish or DirecTv have enough HD content to justify the equipment cost....plus there is that whole pesky switch to MGEG4 which will render most (if not all) of the existing receivers obsolete. Cable seems to be a safer haven right now...Cox serves my area and their HD DVR...

Get the VaVa Voom package...with the recent addition of the SD channels....Voom is an attractive buy. I left Dish and the only issues for me are 1) crude guide 2) no dvr and 3)no Superstations

Yes, I dropped Dish earlier this week. If Voom fails, I'll get DirecTv. I was a Dish Customer since Dec 1996...Charlie ran me off with his attitude towards HD and new channels in general. I like Voom but I miss my DVR and Superstations package.

As a new Voom customer (as of yesterday)...I do have to admit that the pq is disappointing. I can say with certainty that the pq of the SD channels is primarily less than that of Dish. I would also say that Discovery HD pq is better on Dish than Voom.

Forgot to mention...the installer told me that he is doing 10-15 installs for Voom each week in just his 80 mile service area....I think that's pretty encouraging.

After a couple of missed installs by the original installer, I finally had my Voom installed today. The installer (a contractor for Structure Wiring out of Wilmington) did an excellent job and was very accomodating. The basic antenna allows me to receive ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, and UPN...

They're going to have to do better with installs if they want new customers
