What size dish are you using with Voom

I purchased my own 30" dish. From the time I ordered it, I received it and installed it in about 5 days. Total cost with shipping was about $70. ($30 for dish and $40 for shipping).

I would pay it so that I got it. Then, I would call Installs after the installer left.

Have them come back to "peak" the dish. They usually tune to the Dish satellite at 61.5 and not the Voom at 61.5. There IS a difference. Some of these "so-called-professional" installers are sloppy.

So, I initially got one receiver for $0 installation fee + $9.95 monthly lease fee. Does that mean that if I want a second receiver, I will have a $199 installation fee + $9.95 monthly lease fee (first receiver) + $9.95 montly lease fee (for second receiver) + $5.00 monthly additional receiver fee?

The LNB on the dish has two connectors. Did the installer run two coax cables from the satellite dish, one to each receiver? Or, did he run one cable from the dish to a multiswitch and then two cables from the multiswitch, one for each receiver? Btw, I hope some installers are not trying to us...

If your installer has a "spare" DirecTV LNB for SAT A or SAT B, you can test with that. I agree with Ilya. Odds are that the installer is looking for the sat in the wrong direction. For me in the Midwest, if I stand and look in the direction of the DirecTV 101 satellite and using my watch...

The last time I removed power to the reciever, I removed the OTA module. Will the box crash less frequently? I guess I will find out.....

Sean, When I had one of my first daily reciever lockups, I attempted to reboot by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. Although the box rebooted, all channels still displayed "no signal". I had to unplug power for a few seconds to get it going.

Sounds like my box. Hopefully you will go longer than 24 hours before losing signal from satellite on all channels.....

Welcome to the world of Voom & Motorola. If the guide is gone more than an hour, disconnect the power cable to the receiver. After 15 seconds, plug it back in. In about 20 minutes you should have your guide back.

Let us know if they are able to sell you on "upgrades", like extra charges for wall fishing, difficult location, extra cable runs etc. Seems like they are expecting this extra cash. Perhaps they view the "extra" cash as a bribe to do the job they are suppose to do.

The best gift would be a stable picture and a stable box.

When that happens to me, I unplug power to the box for 10 seconds. After it starts up and downloads the guide again it is fixed.
