Latest Date for Future Voom Install?

Deinstaller came yesterday The deinstaller came by to pick up my Voom receiver and remote yesterday - left the antennas. He installs Voom, Dish, and Directv and said that his Voom installs have pretty much stopped and there have been a lot of deinstalls.

Latest Date for Future Voom Install?

If you are implying that the later the install date, the more viable Voom looks - I don't buy it. I can't make Voom last longer by scheduling a 3/15/05 install date! All it means is that as of the date you scheduled the install the CSRs are still taking install orders...

Re-peaking the dish didn't do it

OK - after experiencing rain fade with the 18" dish, I requested a larger dish. I got a 28" dish a few weeks ago, and while it improved my signal somewhat, I still get rain fade with even a light rain. I live in SE South Dakota, have a clear line-of-sight, and do not have diplexors or...

    VOOM Installations

The DVI cable should be included - it came in the kit that my installer opened in front of me. I needed component since I don't have DVI, so he grabbed one out of the truck - at no cost - and even left the DVI cable. As far as the additional charges, they are allowed to charge additionally...

    24 inch dish install

Well - I got an Email stating that Voom had OK'd my upgrade to 24" and to contact the installer. Today he shows up and says "OK let's install it - where is it?". Voom had lost the order and never shipped the dish - he figured I had it. ARGHHHHHHHHH

    VOOM Installations

Complain to the new contact at Installs Inc. The agreement says that they will install up to 4 lines up to 125 feet at no cost, and that any materials needed to make it work are paid by Voom - not the customer. If the install required a tripod you should not pay for it. Either it is required...

    VOOM Installations

If he is worth his salt as an installer, he will have the experience and tools to run the Cat5 and terminate it for you. But - don't expect that to be a freebie, especially if you help. While you won't usually find a charge listed on their bill for your helping, they typically don't like it...

    24 inch dish install

I'm in the central US, and though I asked for an upgrade to 30" they said they would try 24" first. I would be surprised if they agreed to a 30" without trying a 24", particularly for folks in the eastern 2/3 of the US. I can see them jumping up to 30" for folks in the NW (Oregon, Washington)...

    24 inch dish install

They know a larger dish will reduce rain fade, you don't need to convince them. At least I would hope that someone in the sat business would know that. The only real question is how big of a dish is required. A 24" dish will reduce the effects of rain fade, but not eliminate it. A 30" dish...

Voom Installer Here NOW - Quick Question!!

I was thinking ahead when I had two lines run from my garage when they wired for cable TV. I had the Voom installed on the garage and am using those two lines for Voom and the OTA, with the rest of the house on cable. Now it looks like I'll have to run another line for the new DVR receiver. I...

Voom Installer Here NOW - Quick Question!!

You are getting paid to follow the agreement with Voom, which says up to 4 lines. If you are a Voom installer then your company agreeed to it. Granted, if these runs are over the limit, then he should have to pay extra. Diplexors reduce the signal, and Voom seems overly sensitive to signal...

    VOOM Installations

OK - it says Current version V00.05.08 and target V00.00.68. Sounds to me like it did not update, but wants to. I wonder why it didn't? I saw an earlier post indicating that new boxes get loaded at the next 4AM download. Do I need to do anything to get it to do it? Last night I just left it...

    VOOM Installations

Got mine My installer showed up yesterday to put in my Voom. He was from a local sub-contractor to Installs Inc. and had installed a few Vooms. He certainly knew his stuff as far as service in general and installation. It came down to getting it to display on our HD Mitsu TV and he could not...

    VOOM Installations

Orbits Satellite orbits decay and they periodically must execute a burn event to raise the altitude. There is a window of altitude and speed which will keep it geosyncronous. Slightly raising it periodically would not appreciably change coverage or signal. One of the reasons that...
