Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

Based on what. I have two separate reading from different sources in the 75-87 watt range. From where did you get that number of 240? You certainly aren't naive enough to use the nameplate 2 amps x 120 volts??? That 2 amp number is the nominal max draw including surge. What is your definition...

Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

It was easier to take a pic than to figure out what was relevant while it was in the bed of the truck. As a double check, I used the digital meter on my inverted. My batteries run at a nominal 24 VDC and when I turned on the 36" TV the meter bumped 2.9 amps. That would not have included...

    Best 3D titles?

Everything I've read, The Universe is the best 3D title. Not available at BB when I searched, but is at Amazon and Walmart.com, ~$11.

    LG 3D Impressions

Amazon & BB are $1100 today, BB had the $800 price yesterday, but in store only and again 200 mile RT. :( WM had a UPS date of 11-30 to 12-3, so I'm hoping for a NewEgg or other on BF to save the $60 Tax. The 3D is the easiest part to give up since there is almost no 3D content. 100 titles...

    LG 3D Impressions

Looks like the closest WM to me which carries the 47" LG is a 200 mile RT. :( Since WM will UPS for free, worth the wait. Do the in store prices match online, $799?

LG LW5300 $800 The LG LW5300 47" HD 3D/Blu-ray bundle is $800 at BestBuy Fri & Sat 11-18 & 19. I'm 90% likely to get one and not wait for the Walmart BF sale at $799.

    LG 3D Impressions

According to the reviews on Amazon and Walmart . . . AWESOME!!! I'll post when I get mine, but since I've been watching a 36" CRT for the last dozens years, I don't expect to be too objective.

    LG 3D Impressions

Correct, but there's another tradeoff. With full definition active shutter 3D you have a nice headache after the movie, where with 3D passive polarized glasses, aka half-definition, you miss that nice headache. :popcorn

Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

Its made by Phillips and I bought it over 10 years ago. As you know 36" CRTs are immoveable mountains, so I'm not inclined to dig it out of its corner to read the nameplate. But, good news, had breakfast with a friend this morning, he mentioned his giant projection set is dying. I offered him...

    LG 3D Impressions

Thanks Dan, The 47" LG 3D is on my radar, low power, excellent 2D, faux 3D, and 3D with Blu-Ray player. It is on Walmart's BF ads at $799, so seems a VG deal.

Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

Thanks. My 36" CRT draws 87 watts by test, Kill-A-Watt. I've seen many an LCD in the 200-300 watt range. Indeed, some LED-LCD's beat the 87 watts, but not all. You'll notice the LG 3D link I provided is a LED. Still trying to figure out its power draw, LG lists 135 watts, the Energy Star PDF...

Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

What is a "digital copy"? I have a 36" CRT with Dish satellite DVR. Have avoided LCD until now because of the power draw, I live Off-the-Grid on 3-KWH per day. My only 3D experience was Avatar Imax, no headache. I'm consider the LG 47LW5300 $799 on BF. Rave reviews on both Amazon and Walmart...

That helps, Feb 2012 is not far off. What about other 3D content, how expensive?

Avatar 3D $130, Is that typical for 3D?

I'm considering getting a 3D TV and did a search on Amazon for Avatar 3D. Listed at $130 . . . OUCH!!! What about Netflix, Blockbuster? Is that typical for 3D content? If so, doesn't make sense to me getting a 3D TV. Your thoughts?

How do 3D TV's Compare to the 3D at the movie theater?

Perhaps this LG/Blueray/3D Glasses Combo? The reviews mirror your comments. I particularly like the power consumption (62 watts) and the SD to HD conversion. Thanks for your reply. :)

How do 3D TV's Compare to the 3D at the movie theater?

110" is mighty big and I'm thinking 47", maybe 55" LCD. I currently have a 36" 4:3 SD, CRT. I'm assuming to do FP you need a dark room, not sunlight streaming in like I have? Does 3D even make sense in my situation? Sure enough, wish I'd arrived at the Imax a half-hour earlier. That was...

SD Signal on a HD Monitor?

Thanks for the replies. That of course begs the question . . . How do I tell a good HD from a terrible HD monitor? Are their reviews to read? Hermit

SD Signal on a HD Monitor?

What happens when you supply a standard definition signal to a high definition monitor? - Does it simply use a reduced portion of the screen? - Does it up rez the SD signal? - What about the different aspect ratios? You can tell by my question I don't own a HD monitor, just looking...
