2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

Yep, G and W. Sony has the A1E in 77 too Basically the new red sub pixel is to help burn in and image retention. Not that it’s huge in my book. The 75-100 nits the 18 panels are brighter isn’t huge for specular highlights either. But it’s $9000!!! Lol.

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

More I think about it the more irritated I get that the 77” has a 2017 panel. I mean msrp is $8999...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

So from the 77" and 2018 reviews so far I see: 77" is more dim nit wise in HDR than the smaller screens because of the new vs old panel (curious about this one). Wonder if the 77" gets the new screen this year at all. Dynamic Tone Mapping in 4000 nit really brought back some detail, so maybe...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

Little more data, seems the quick AutoCal runs are: 101 CMS measurements in lightning mode 42 SDR white balance 21 HDR10 and DV white balance That is pretty nice.

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

Messaged Chad B yesterday and heard back today. He recommended 300 hours on the LG OLED as break in, and said he had the DV cal and loading of new settings into the DV mapping engine down on the 2017 models. 2018 should behave the same way. He also said he has been watching the Autocal thread...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

You can get a C8 for way less than $4000. I have decided I am purchasing a 77" C8, will use the A1E in my other room. I have been back and forth, and while I dont miss the 940E as an LCD (dont get me wrong its lovely, LCDs just aren't for me), I do miss the size. The C8 is getting rave...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

LOL, OK... Im glad you fell for the nit argument, Samsuck will love you. Reviewers are starting to note than even though OLED's are outgunned nit wise, since they have zero black and LCD's (especially cheap ones) have a much higher black floor in HDR, the OLED offers MORE pop because LCD cannot...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

You can get a 65" C7 for around $2200 if you look sharply and the 55" for $1400, what else do you want? OLED's are flagships, LCD's range from cheap to FALD because the cheap ones suck. The Samsuck Q9 isnt cheap? Show me a comparable price wise LCD that outperforms a C7.

Poll: Are QLEDs worth the premium over LCDs?

Ive seen some early reporting from the Q9 flagship from a calibrator, Id recommend a Sony 940E or ZD9.

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

I have been using Greentoe to search for deals. It is sick what you can get a 65" C8 for right now... I have one month left to decide on A8F or C8, Chad B will be here in mid to late June.

    Sony A1E.

Good stuff here, and he reinforces using Cinema Pro SDR settings in DV

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

So far calibration reports of the 3D LUT for Gamut auto cal is showing the less points you do the more accurate, which makes no sense. So now the question is, why even use it. May have some bugs to work out.

Some information for 2017 LG OLED owners

The HDR pop on an OLED was pretty wild the first time I saw it. Something like a space shot with lights on ships, or stars, in HDR, is pretty wild.

    Sony A8F Oled

In 2016, the LG's had DV, but you could not adjust it at all. In 2017, the LG's had DV which was locked again, but Calman created a way to calibrate it for DV, and then load the new settings into LG's DV mapping engine. Not everyone can do this, but at least you can calibrate it. You have to...

    Sony A8F Oled

And not everyone is as sensitive to it. My 2016 E6 was pretty good, but I like a little dejudder. The LG was more prone to double imaging on pans and artifacts vs what I have seen on the 940E and A1E. Its like once you see it the way you like it, its hard to change LOL. I still may be willing...

    Sony A8F Oled

Looking at adding a second OLED to the house, since I love the A1E I think this will be my choice. Been keeping up with comparisons at AVS from people like Dnice, seems the Sony’s are still a little ahead LG’s new chip in video processing and motion, and it has been confirmed the A8F is using...

Some information for 2017 LG OLED owners

Most of the sets are setup when DV takes over you get locked out of a buncha stuff, DV wanted most control over the engine. To actually cal a 2017 DV mode, you have to have software on your generator to trigger it into DV mode, run the calibration with Calman, and then load the adjustments onto...

2018 LG OLED's are bringing it

So far, from reliable (calibrators) owner's: C8 A9 chip is much improved with less than 4k video feeds, but still not quite as good as the Sony X1 Motion is better, but not as good as the A1E. Same for handling of banding, etc... 2018 panel may be 100 nits brighter, not fully confirmed. Sony...

New FW update this week. This software update (version PKG6.2858.00082NAA) provides the following benefits: Improves general performance of the TV Resolves a condition where the TV goes to 8X red LED blinking when starting to play games (HDR content) from the PS4™ Pro gaming console Improves...

    Sony A1E.

It could prob stand to be lower, but since the OLED's have no view angle issues, it's not any issue I can tell. You actually stop noticing it has a 5 degree angle. Even their LCD's have a slight lean back for whatever reason.

    Sony A1E.

With the kickstand, it would take you pulling it over on purpose to dump it. I think they put lead in the counterweight or something because it is shockingly heavy. My stand is 24" tall, so my eye line is almost mid screen, so its perfect. Also, if I were to wall mount, that would put it...
