WRAL-TV Showcases Next Gen TV’s Potential

I agree. I too am standing by the sidelines watching all this unfold. The DTV transition wasn't all that smooth. People that once had a decent analog signal couldn't get their station in digital. I remember people buying UHF antennas and of course the station they wanted was VHF. Stations...

What should be done with Ion?

Haven't seen Ion in years except on a B.U.D. Except for the weekends their programming is not all that. I rate it up there with Oprah's channel and lots of others with almost nothing worth watching

BREAKING NEWS: FCC Approves Next-Gen TV for OTA Broadcasting

I'm not even excited about 4K since there's not much content yet, to cause me to buy yet another new Tv. So I'm certainly not getting excited about 3.0 and a transition to that. I think it will pay to wait a while to get a new Tv, unless someone really needs one. Buy a 4k now and then in a few...

Over-the-air very underdeveloped in the US?

Neither of my grown kids ages 32 and 37 have cable Tv. Most of my 7 grandkids have grown up with PBS OTA or like their parents watch streamed stuff. We have Sling at our house and 70 channels OTA

Over-the-air very underdeveloped in the US?

Cable and satellite started big in the U.S in the 80's and most took their bait. Back then it was reasonable $35 a month or so and lots to watch. The cable companies locked everyone in and started jacking up the prices so we have the mess we have today. There's no incentive to offer anything...

Free Over-the-Air TV Is Going to Get Better

With yet another converter box perhaps lol....Or you can just buy another Tv to replace the 4K you haven't bought yet

    The "new" FCC and OTA

Some years ago I kind of thought OTA was on the downside. With the digital transition and maybe with 3.0 it will have a booming comeback. It still worries me that more of the spectrum has been gobbled up and sold.

    Over the air... really?

Now I know without a doubt why spell check was invented.

    Riddle me this.........

Ice, now you and I remember a few FTA satellite ideas that never got off the ground too. I won't mention their names, actually I can't remember them now lol....Like anything we just keep our fingers crossed

Justice Network Launching on Forum, Media-General Stations

Justice Tv is on WDTN today...That makes 66 channels now that we get OTA from Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio markets

    Future of diginets?

I don't see anything happening for some years down the road to charge the future of OTA, other than ATSC-3. In small ways OTA appears to be growing and with decent sub channels it will continue to grow. Besides that those that can still afford cable are realizing they're sick of paying more and...

Do stations not care that their signal looks worse the more sub channels that are added?

ON-TV that's an old one. There was a local Tv engineer that build a board that he was selling for $10 and you got the station for free. You supplies your own parts and solder. Most of the subs here don't look too bad considering they're SD anyway

    WOW 180 Miles

Wow I'd get over 100 maybe 125 stations compared to the 64 I get now lol. Why didn't we think of inventing something like this? We could retire a millionaire, or go to jail eventually for fraud

American Sports Network launches 24/7 broadcast network on January 11th

Well it was supposed to launch at 5 AM today and it's 10:30 here and no ASN so far. Something must have happened at our local WKRC. Anyone else seeing ASN in any of the new cities it's supposed to be on today?

American Sports Network launches 24/7 broadcast network on January 11th

Ice, It looks like a fair amount of replays from the schedule I saw. I think Friday night had some live college hockey though. As of Monday I'll have 64 channels OTA. Should be something to watch lol
  16. Blindowl1234

I hope this does not kill what possible subchannels I could get in the future.

I don't see any big network affiliated stations going away too soon. It's still profitable for them to be in business so why sell. If OTA 10 or 20 years down the road becomes a pay model....guess I'll quit watching tv lol.

Justice Network Launching on Forum, Media-General Stations

Ice, The problem here in Cincy is the networks want to be on all cable systems and OTA. TWC and Cinti Bell Fioptics are the two big cable guys. I'm not sure WKRP or WOTH were available on all the local cable systems

RetroTV (RTV) schedule for 1st quarter 2016

That sure looks exciting lol....I do like the Hillbillies though

What is your most and least favorite of all the diginets in your DMA.

Favorite probably Antenna Tv....Least favorites are Grit and Get TV. I agree with Ice on the game show stuff too

Antenna TV gone in Cincinnati (And Returns Jan 1)

TNG Tony is probably real familiar with the area near me. I'm about 20 miles too far southwest to get Columbus reliably. In the analog days I had some of the Columbus stuff fairly reliably. Also WBDT 26.3 ION is on now too. The Vizio tv will add channels without a rescan. The Wallymart Element...

Antenna TV gone in Cincinnati (And Returns Jan 1)

Looks like time to rescan my channels in both tv's lol. I didn't think Antenna Tv was back on in Cincinnati until January. Thanks Ice for the info and TNG Tony too

Media-General Stations Adding Ion in Some Markets

Maybe I missed something but I wonder ION seems to be popping up in a lot of markets....The main ION network doesn't have that much to offer in my opinion. We get it on WBDT 26 out of Dayton with a decent signal. If we had all the ION nets if might be something to have. Can't complain I guess...

Antenna TV gone in Cincinnati (And Returns Jan 1)

Ice, I get Cincy and Dayton great. I wish I lived another 20 miles northeast I'd get the Columbus Ohio market too. That would be 3 markets for me. In the old analog days some of the Columbus stations were watchable for me at 79 miles out.

Antenna TV Coming to Red River, Sinclair, Other Stations

I can't imagine RTV has anything left worth watching....Ice and I remember the good ole days of RTN/RTV

Antenna TV Coming to Red River, Sinclair, Other Stations

Not sure if it's been posted already but Antenna Tv is coming to Cincinnati on WSTR 64.2 Jan 1st. It will be on Dayton's WKEF 22 as well. We had it on a low power here for a while but lost it weeks ago.
