    Another antenna or quit

I've got an Antennas Direct DB4 myself. Always heard the great reviews on the 4228, but my DB4 gives me such great results that I don't feed the need to try out the 4228! I get awesome results now. I've heard stories of guys putting the 91XG on 60ft towers and drawing in stations hundreds and...

    new antennae recommendation

Signal strength is nice, but signal QUALITY is the key. I've seen signal strength in the 90s but it stops and stutters and breaks up every few seconds...this usually happens when you have bad multipath issues. However, I've seen singal in the high 60's (!) that are very stable. Hey, if he's...

    Hughes HTL-HD having problems

I agree, doesn't sound like your receiver. You can do a factory reset on the box if you like, I believe...I used to use one of those until I got my HD Tivo. Try using the RCA outs into a TV and see what you get.

What OTA antenna should I get?

Free and better Well, come join us in the FTA area. We get great looking content for FREE! Just equipment costs, and you can usually find dishes for free if you look hard enough. IMO, it's an awesome hobby...and it pays for itself over time. With my OTA antenna and FTA dish, I'm happy...

    new antennae recommendation

I second the recommendation. I'm about the same distance from my towers here. More heigth the better. You could always TRY an indoor antenna, but I'm sure performance will be lacking. On a nice day, I could barely pull in some of my stations...I had to reorient the antenna everytime I...

    USDTV Receiver

I don't want to get into moderators, but I don't doubt if there is some sort of underground fix for that (ie: way to load firmware into box via computer). Those boxes are pretty popular since they are/used to be sold at WalMart. Might try Googling it.

    Which OTA would i buy.

Certianly depends on your location, whether you're in the city or not. Generally, the further you are from the broadcast towers, the tougher it is to pick up the stations solidly. Apartments make it tough since you probably can't put up an outdoor antenna. You may be able to mount one on your...

    OTA Antenna - Which One?

Yeah, I'd buy an indoor antenna from a local electronic store (Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc...) and give that a shot. If it doesn't work, return it! Directionals do work better, but a 4228 is almost a "standard." While it's not directional, it still has some direction...also handles multipath...

    Amplifier for indoor antenna

Channel Master amps are very good...probably the most favorite. IMO, you really need an outdoor antenna, or alteast an attic one. You wouldn't believe the difference that a properly aligned outdoor antenna makes. However, if you want to try it, I would run down to Radio Shack and get the...

What OTA antenna should I get?

OTA DXing is pretty fun though (trying to pick up out-of-market stations). I will say this...even though those DirecTVs HD channels may be okay, the HD locals OTA will probably look better since they won't be as compressed as DirecTVs. More compression means more pixelized and more nasty...

Old School Roof Antenna...is it running off of RG-58 or 59?

It's worth a shot. If you're close to the towers, you should be okay. If you're in a more rural area, you could be screwed. A few dB loss could be the difference between a steady signal and an unlockable one.
